Just had my worst birthday ever... What's Yours? |
|
I arrived home from my trip to Istanbul and within about one hour after arriving, the shellfish food poisoning hit. I have had food poisoning before, but this was a whole other level.
Without going into the disgusting details, my wife and I ended up in the hospital. Lucky me, I got to stay a night longer because I spiked a fever.
Anyway, things are on the mend. Just feel like I have a super-hangover at the moment.
So, share the misery... what's your worst birthday ever?

1. Decided to take the edge off the big 4-0 by celebrating it in my hometown with |
|
family and friends (Hometown is Columbus, OH-I live in FL). So I flew up there. The day of my birthday one friend called in sick, another couple had to leave on business, a forth was coming from out of town but couldn't make it, my mom decided to host a church event instead and my dad didn't want to miss his favorite TV shows.....so I ended up "celebrating" that birthday alone in a kitchen eating a sandwich. Hopefully the next one (two days from now) won't suck as badly.
Hope you feel better!

2. My worst birthday was when my dad forgot it |
|
And that really wasn't too bad because I celebrated with my mom and step-dad and other family members. Dad just had a lot going on at the time. He remembered a few days later and felt really bad about it.

4. As soon as I embraced the fact that birthdays are bad luck, |
|
I found it easier to face the next birthday, which also turned out to be bad luck. Since then, all my birthdays have either been happy or unmemorable.

5. My mom always forgot my birthday |
|
It got to be fun for me to call her on my birthday and chat for a while and then tell her "I just thought I'd call to let you wish me a Happy Birthday". Then she would feel awful and apologize and we would laugh about it.
Now she can't even remember my name.

Still trying to get the hang of this but thanks for the welcome. This is my first visit to the lounge. It's a nice break from the political discussion. I think I'll relax for a while and put my feet up on the furniture, leave a ring from my coffee cup on the end table, and let my dog eat his AM carrots on the rug. Is that OK?
You wonder why my mother forgot my birthday!??!

10. A mother forgetting her child's birthday....that is pretty sad. |
|
Don't ask me about anal retentive housekeeping. I failed at that, apparently, when my ex-boyfriend made me and our dog move out of the house because he shed too much hair. :D

I tried to vacuum regularly, like at least every 2 or 3 days, all over. But still, he would come home, and place the vacuum cleaner on the couch before he sat down, and would act all pissed off and offended because there was some dog hair on the couch.
His sister gave us the puppy. I really took to the dog, and he's very cute and extremely lovable. He is the best dog anyone could ever have, and just the fact that my ex doesn't appreciate this wonderful, amazing dog makes me realize that we don't share the same values.

Yea. I'm making up excuses for her but I guess you had to know her to not be offended by it.
Was it your x who shed too much or the dog?
Either way, I'd be thrilled to call him "the X".

My dog sheds a lot, but if we took a poll: who is cuter and more lovable: the dog or my ex-boyfriend?
The dog would win by at least 99%

21. Gotta have your furpeople |

How animals and people relate defines a person in my book.
Even people who might be afraid of animals but still don't dislike or hate them categorically pass the test.
I would much rather have your dog, and his hair, on my couch than the XBF.
