The elephant is usually Republican, but could be long memory also.
Why is it blue, why with ladies underwear, is that a whip? And why the star as an eye? Why the red shoes?

1 yes the elephant is solidly associated with the Republican party
2 the elephant graphic is copied from the Republican National Convention (2008) Logo
3 that is supposed to be leather and yes, it is a whip
4 apparently you have missed the, like, a brazillion stories today about the RNC spending $2000 in expenses at a "domination club" in california complete with "orgy decor"
5 The Republican party is no longer the party of family values - not that they ever were

I was thinking of the whip as when a person gets congressional support by a person called the whip, and the dressing as the concept of female, or v or servant not soldier, and the red shoes from dorthy in the wizard of oz, and her wanting to get back home.
Thats why I didn't understand it.
I had a different view of it. But I see your analogy once you mention it. :)

I thought the star in the eyes, was from them being clocked and seeing stars.
