I know I'm late to the party, but what's up with Victoria Jackson?

To my eye, she's obviously playing a character, but the Teabaggers apparently take her at face value. On the other hand, they also insist that Colbert is playing it straight in some sort of double psyche. So

1. One part of me wants to say...

...she's just playing the over-the-top parody character she's
been playing for decades. Another part wonders whether she's
just always been type-cast instead of brilliant. The THIRD
half of me (snicker) wonders if she's seen Dennis Miller's
career as one of the few viable options for her to re-emerge
as a celebrity blip on ANYBODY'S radar. I'd have liked that
video better if she had done a handstand or cartwheeled or
something.

I also find fascinating the theory that Michael Savage is a
closet progressive who took a fascist conservative "character
role" to the extreme in a parody... but that he also appears
to have realized that he hit an unexpectedly RICH motherlode
of ignorance and has gotten lost and actually "become" his
alter ego.

One moment I say, "NO WAY!!!"... the next moment I say, "WHOA!!!!".

2. She's been like that for a long time, and not nearly good enough of an actress to be faking it.

5. I loved her on SNL. Her stage persona was sharp and innocent, clever & naive at the same time.

She's a loon now, and her declining years between then and her descent to wingnuttery has not been pretty. But along the way she did some really entertaining stuff that just sort of marched to its own drummer. Her poetry segments on Update were mindblowing and something besides the usual sex & drugs jokes or the repeat of tiresome Gumby & the Compulsive Liar catch phrases.

Too bad she's gone bonkers now. In her day she was a sight and a half.

and has been since before her SNL days.

To her credit - air-headed and idiotic as she is - I gotta give her credit for actually holding true to her beliefs, even while on the cast of SNL and her previous comedy career. Unfortunately, she did have to put up with some prejudicial shit (though I'm sure she offered some of her own) given the people she was working with.

One can say many bad things about her, but 'hypocrite' is not one of them.

Moron, sure. Self-righteous windbag, yeah. Uncritical thinker, absolutely. Unevolved brain, for sure. But hypocrite? Nope.
