Do you get worked up at all over sports? (Arsenal v. Barca spoilers)
Edited on Wed Mar-31-10 01:27 PM by redqueen
There's a big game today and I wish I could watch it, instead I'll be watching the text updates online. I'm all nervous and excited. It's silly I know, but I fuckin love it. :)

What about you?

1. Up the Arse!
you are shyte at the back but Barca is suspect there too so it could be a corker! Keep a clean sheet you have a chance but this guy will most likely see that doesn't happen.

and he is only 22!

3. Messi and Cesc on the same pitch.
I didn't think Cesc would play... I can't believe I'm missing this.

5. I never miss a chance to watch Messi play.
And against a team like Arsenal is just a huge plus. Then there's the Henry drama which adds another layer.

7. Yeah he's on the bench...
did you see his quote about being in pain playing against the Gunners? Awww, poor baby.

Barca sure are good sports, allowing Wenger to make a change in the lineup if Cesc has troubles during the warm up.

11. Despite the fun I have in the Sports Forum, surprisingly no.
I did when I was a kid, but now it's really not a huge deal one way or the other. Though I say that as a hockey fan, the one sport Boston hasn't won anything in in a long time, so maybe that's it. If the Bruins ever win the Cup we'll find out, I guess. :)

It's nice to see the teams I root for win, but I basically just want to see good games.

12. Yes, I do get worked up... which is why I convinced my boyfriend
to drive 13 hours to Indianapolis, get an expensive hotel room and get expensive tickets for the Final Four since our team is in it.

I have crazy rituals during important games, where I must hold my hands in a certain way and/or sit in a certain way and, if the team is not doing well, I move around to see which one works best.

16. Yes. I threw a bag of cilantro at the TV the other night
Michigan was playing Miami in hockey for a chance at the Frozen Four and the refs totally blew it, not allowing a Michigan goal in OT. Then (of course) Miami shot in a weird little dribbler. I thought their players could have at least acted a little ashamed or humbled by their luck, but instead they were celebrating all over the place. I didn't want to actually break my TV, so I threw something I could throw hard that would look like it him a Miami player in the face.

And I'm still pissed, by the way!!!!!

23. Nah, I sit quietly and read Moby Dick while the game is on.
Any claims from my neighbors about wild whooping and screaming shattering the evening calm during the Super Bowl are purely fictitious. I was probably just cursing at the whale, black hearted beast that it is.

30. They should call soccer "Throwball."
Just to stick with the screwed up names. Otherwise it should be football, throwball, and batball, but we Americans can't name anything right. Except cars. Dodge is a good name for a car.

And what the Hell is cricket named for? The noises you hear during the games?

38. Stuff like this:
Edited on Wed Mar-31-10 02:22 PM by redqueen
"Zlatan Ibrahimovic drags a shot inches wide. Ten games without a goal against an English club, and he's already missed a few tonight. Bound to score... "

Grrrrr

This is what prompted my post earlier though:

"Barca have had nine shots, Arsenal none. Enough said."

They're only playing against the best team in the world. FFS.
