Mike Nesmith - Magnetic South (1970)

Wanna hear melodic yodeling? Wanna hear pedal steel guitar played well? Wanna hear Monkees songs countrified? Get Magnetic South.

Mike Nesmith's first real solo album, this album features Red Rhodes - the master pedal steel guitar player.

As a result you've got one of the more melodic mergings of Country and Rock - long before The Eagles ruined the genre.

"Mama Nantucket" and "Keys to the Car" really work the yodeling, which works REALLY well on this album - in fact it makes you ask 'Where has yodeling gone???' It seems these days its only in Ricola commercials.
