1. Globulus (Amiga)
He was a cute little green guy with big feet in sort of a Marble Madness type maze thing with classical music for the background. I still have the floppy and the Amiga but I think it could be redone now that PC's have finally caught up to the graphics capabilities the Amiga had over 20 years ago.

2. The Ultima series
Made by the same company - Origin - that brought you Wing Commander.

Some fans are already remaking a few of the games in the series.

Sadly, EA bought out Origin, killed the franchise and now owns the rights to the series.

3. And let me guess...
Edited on Thu Apr-01-10 10:26 AM by TheMightyFavog
I got a better chance of taking Drew Barrymore to bed than EA does of selling off Origin's titles to another interested party?

4. Yep, You got it.
One of these days, I'm hoping some multimillionaire Ultima fan will make EA an offer they can't refuse.

I also used to play Full Throttle and the X-Wing & TIE Fighter games. LucasArts made some pretty good computer games back in the day.

6. Wasteland
Edited on Thu Apr-01-10 10:54 AM by Mojambo
And no, Fallout (while a fine game) doesn't count.

If I were going to remake it, I'd try and tighten up the game engine used to make the final game in the Wizardry line (Wizardry 8.) That way you could get a 3d graphics environment while still staying true to the turn based party combat.

7. System Shock 3
And not that "spiritual successor" crap that Bioshock claimed to be. It was just System Shock 2 with a different coat of paint.

To quote Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw: "It's not like System Shock 2. It is System Shock 2. The hybrids are now splicers, the psi powers are now plasmids. And the wrench is now...well...a wrench. But it's a different kind of wrench."

SHODAN deserves a full-blown sequel to her antics on the Von Braunn.

11. Amen on the X-Wing/TIE Fighter series!
Edited on Thu Apr-01-10 12:20 PM by Hayabusa
Also...

I'd love to see what the first two Fallouts would look and play like using Fallout 3's graphics. Still keep the gameplay as it was, but the graphics.

How about a 100% officially finished Knights of the Old Republic II?

Skipping away from Star Wars, how about the Baldur's Gate series using the graphics from KotOR? Once again, no storyline change, just graphics.

I'd like to see a Metroidvania version of the original Castlevania game, I don't care if it's 2d like the GBA/DS games or 3d like Lament of Innocence.

EDIT: And it will never, ever happen, but I'd like to see the 16-bit and PSX Maddens and NCAA Footballs remade for newer systems. Same with old wrestling games. Damn rights issues...

17. "So you want to be a hero" - for the title if nothing else

They actually remade the first game to upgrade it from EGA to SVGA. :woohoo: But some of the later ones were also worth upgrade and the entire series would be fun on today's computer's.

Hmmm - I wonder if they would load on the Vista laptop? Of course, I would have to get a floppy drive to do that.

28. For that matter, the old C-64/Apple II era "Archon" game
sort of a chesslike board game (though not nearly as deep, especially if you were good at the arcade part) mixed with a series of arcade duels for control of the space whenever two pieces met.

And from the distant past "Pot O'Gold", in which you search through various Irish forests, each with it's own Irish theme music, in search of the leprechaun's pot of gold.

31. Portal 2 has been announced complete with co-op
The belief (i.e. rumor) is that in co-op mode each player will control one color of portal.

I can't stop laughing at the thought of how much havok that will cause.

34. I LOVE Day of the Tentacle.
Probably the first computer game I really fell in love with. I had the multimedia version that actually made the computer talk to me! You better believe my jaw dropped the first time I heard an actual voice coming from my computer. But I believe that DotT was actually a sequel to Maniac Mansion. I'd love to see a remake or sequel to it.

48. There's a free version of it on Ubuntu.
In one of my days of boredom, I installed Ubuntu as an operating system on a spare harddrive I can boot up with through a USB cable. It either came with a game package, or I found a free game package for it, and one of the games was Lode Runner. It's called something else, but it's the same game, with many of the same levels, and a bunch of add-on levels others have written later for it.

If you ever get bored. :)
