"Do You Know"

I think 3 or 4 successive graduating classes
chose this one.

No. Originality. Ever.

14. 1970 and I have absolutely no idea about the song.
I have never gone to any of my reunions because my class of 500+ was very snobbish and besides, most of the kids I grew up with were in the class behind me and we all hung out at the same park. In fact, on the year of my 10th reunion I organized a "park" reunion with the people who were my friends since grade school. We had it at the park's shelter house (this park is only a 1/2 block in size), a place where we skated, played football and softball, and where we just grew up together. It was a great time with some people coming from hundreds of miles away with their spouses and kids. Way better than any high school reunion.

23. 1971-"For What it's Worth"
There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind
I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side
It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away
We better stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, now, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

59. 1990--can't recall if we had a senior song, but
I found a list of the top 100 from that year:

http://www.musicoutfitters.com/topsongs/1990.htm

I listened to heavy metal, rap, classic rock--anything but the popular music back then. But damn if I don't know most of these songs from hearing them on Musak in stores! Although I totally still have Billy Joel's Storm Front in my music collection. I think it was the first CD I might have gotten. (I retired my 1981-issued boombox around then because it started to eat tapes.) And that was right around when my parents finally got basic cable when we'd had just HBO for years. MTV!

(I remember when I first saw the "Ice, Ice Baby" video--first thought--why is he dressed like a waiter? Second thought--Is this the differently-abled older NKOTB brother they don't like to talk about?)

"Free at last, free at last, thank God almighty, we're free at last!"

I, for one, was very happy to see the last of that place. I was only there my senior year.
I think I would have lost my mind if I had had to endure the place for four years.

(Most notorious alumnus: George W. Bush, so you get the idea that anyone who thought like I did,
did not exactly "fit in")
