Been meaning to tell yah: a real life tv/movies-style "musical" moment |

happened to me this past week. Thursday.
The college I teach at frequently has tables set up near this one room I'm in near the front of the building. These host visitors of various sorts: job opportunities, internships, church groups, charities, etc.
We were done with class, and as I'm leaving, it looks like the volunteers at the table a "changing shifts." One woman says in a loud "I know you're gonna...." something, something that I couldn't make out. But it had the same cadence as a famous pop song. I get to the table and say "For a second, I thought you were gonna bust into "Ain't to Proud to Beg." Suddenly, cue finger snaps and head rolls on her part as she starts song from top. "I know you're gonna leave me/ But I refuse to let you go." Other woman starts popping her fingers. First lady gets committed and ups her voice a bit. Second woman starts singing. They are good. I get into it, first snapping, then joining in on a lower part for the chorus: "Ain't too proud to beg/Sweet darling." We finish chorus and first woman is launching into second verse, so me and other lady are now doing "oohs" and "doos" backups, still snapping, and doing some barely synced dance moves and glides.
One more chorus and we were done. We got a standing ovation. (Well, OK a few of the people passing by applauded.) Turns out they were from a church and they were both in the choir. We hugged and laughed and I headed for my next class.
