Nutliquor - Peanut Butter Vodka (think the inside of a Reese's peanut butter cup)
I fly to Vegas tomorrow to debut Nutliquor (sexual double entendre intended) at the Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of America's annual convention ( WWSA.org ).

It's a 69-proof peanut butter flavored vodka. It's very smooth (much smoother than, for instance, Three Olives Cherry). It's a great shot by itself or can be mixed (I'm on 16 great recipes so far and more are coming in daily). It'll retail for just under $20/bottle, which is right at the Three Olives price point. Taste panel reactions are excellent.

This is the World Series of liquor promotion venues...and it's our debut.

Wish me luck.

1. Good luck
Any hints about what it mixes with?

'Cause a few drops of hazelnut Torani, some Malibu, and some lime Calistoga might be EPIC with that.

(Last night I was drinking pomegranite tequila, Malibu, pomegranite Italian soda, grenadine, and lime Calistoga, and it was WAY better than you would think. Super girlie, but I think sneaking two kinds of alcohol in there should get me some kind of medal. :) )

2. Chocolate vodka is a gimme...as is Chambord.
We've tried both...and they work really well.

Less conventionally, Nutliquor and 99 Apples in a 5/1 ratio is really cool. Apple nose, initial apple taste that fades completely to peanut butter in 4-5 seconds. Lingering peanut butter taste.

A 5/1 mix of Nutliquor/Licor 43 with a super short pour of whipping cream gives you a shot that looks like a very small lager (amber colored with a "head")...and it tastes great.

It's also great with caramel vodka, 99 Bananas, vanilla vodka, (not necessarily all at once).

We also have a great Nutliquor martini recipe and (odd as it sounds) a kick-ass Nutliquor Old Fashioned recipe. We're working on more.

I agree...sometimes the tastiest recipes come from the most unlikely mixes.

3. I was thinking that an apple flavor might compliment the alcohol well
I would worry that peanut butter might become cloying, and a fruit taste might retain the richness of the flavor while adding a tartness.

4. It's chemistry.
At 69 proof, there's no way to get cloying sweetness. The bite of the alcohol counteracts any sugar influences.

That's why most flavored vodkas fix at 70 proof instead of the normal 80 proof...that variance gets you a lot of palatibility.

9. Is it the alcohol or peanuts that get in the way? Nutliquor is non-allergenic.
The process involves seven Himalayan albino dwarfs and a yak's foot, and I don't understand it completely, but this won't trigger peanut allergies.

10. The peanut flavor.
Except for a craving now and then I don't like peanuts or peanut butter. I also don't like chocolate so maybe I'm just a freak.

21. Fair enough. I can't please everybody.
People who do like peanut butter (and also love vodka) love Nutliquor, which is the best I can hope for.

There are plenty of great tastes that I don't enjoy, so I completely understand :)
