So, I sprained my wrist today.
Typing is slow-going. Owww!

At least it's not broken, but it sure feels like it. :(

1. Damn, I'm sorry hippywife.
It's always a drag having a deep injury because it's so easy to keep hurting it. And it takes so long to get back to doing normal things. Take care and good luck with the healing. Maybe typing will be therapeutic. I'd keep going with ice for a bit, on and off though. Maybe an ace bandage too.

Cheers.

3. Thanx, kj.
I do have an ace bandage on it now. It's pretty sore and swollen, so it might be a while for it to heal, on top of the arthritis I already contend with everyday.

Thank you for the cheer. :hi:

2. My dear hippywife...
Aw, sweetie....those hurt! You just don't realize how much you use your wrist until you injure it...

I turned my wrist a week ago, a little tendon twist, and wow, the pain!

I went into a doc-in-a box place and they fixed me up with a brace complete with velcro straps and a place for my thumb.

I was much better 24 hours later!

You might want to have it looked at...

Feel better!

4. Dearest Peg...
I did go to urgent care for an x-ray and have it wrapped now in an ace bandage. He said he could splint it but I said no because the last time we got a splint at the doc's office for hubs ankle it was the chintziest, cheapest affair that we ended up paying $89 for. Ridiculous!

I tried hubs splint from when he had his carpet tunnel surgery but too difficult to mouse with. I did wrap the ace properly to stabilize the wrist and hand, allowing only finger movement. This works much better.

I'm sorry to hear you hurt yourself, too. Glad it's better for you.

5. I'm glad you had it looked at!
Oh, and one lovely thing the doctor told me? What I did to my wrist happens more easily as you get older, and they take longer to heal...

Oh wonderful!

I am essentially back to normal, and I wish the very same for you.

so I see these injuries hanging on in folks for much longer. At 52, I'm already dealing with that somewhat, with arthritic joints on top of any injuries I manage to cause myself by being a klutz. :eyes:

Thank you for the hugs and good wishes, doll.

This is starting to put too much stress on it and ramping up the pain so I think I'm going to log off and give it a rest for the night.

Besides, The Buddha is coming on PBS. :D

7. Should we even ask how it happened?
Or is that a no-no?

Cause, you know sometimes, uh... people are... um... having an intimate moment when these things just kind of happen.

Not that it's any business of mine. No siree.

It just might help clear up some of the mystery involving this unfortunate turn of events.

In case there's a report that needs to be filed.

10. Nothing like that. LOL
I fell and of course tried to catch myself and went down hard on my hand.

Not doing anything worth getting injured. Just walking while being a klutz.

8. Ouch...hope you feel better soon.
if it's any consolation ( and I'm pretty damn sure it isn't) , I broke both of mine simultaneously ( and at the same time too) in 1983..... At least it's just one of 'em ...of course, doesn't make it hurt any less.

12. You're welcome, and my experience wasn't so bad, in fact it was so ridiculous
as to have almost been funny.( once the pain started going away after a few days). It was my own fault; city kid on a horse up in the mountains of Colorado... looking for the clutch or the brakes on it, and I was on the ground by time I realized it wasn't equipped with those items.

So anyway, I hope your pain goes away soon, and your injury becomes no more than an inconvenience soon.

18. many lessons learned:
Edited on Thu Apr-08-10 02:56 PM by abq e streeter
1. Don't say yes to doing something that you have no idea how to do just because a pretty young woman asks you...especially when you're already hung-over.
2.On the other hand,I learned that apparently there are women who find helpless men in casts up to their shoulders irresistible. ( this was a highly unexpected and obviously pleasant surprise).
3. After the first 15 minutes of mild nausea, demerol really really kicks ass.
4. do not, in your demerol induced delirium, ask the doctor for some to take home; they apparently take this as a sign not to give you any more.
5.Try to NOT fall or get thrown off of moving objects, especially living ones.
6. if you do get thrown off, do not try to stop your fall with your hands.
7. tying your shoelaces without the use of your thumbs is trickier than you think it will be.
8. Avoid the temptation to reply to posts by middlefingermom announcing that he can't get the word "wipe" out of his head .

I am doing fine. Still hurts but not nearly as bad as yesterday. Taking ibuprofen in addition to my usual pain meds.

How are YOU doing? Well, I hope.

28. Ouch!!
Glad it's not broken
I guess it's only natural to try to catch yourself when you fall
I fell on the deck a couple of years ago (ice) and came down hard
The heels of both palms were bruised as well as two nice (not!) horizontal bruises on my back from where I hit the stairs
Take care and get well soon :hi:
