Damn kids, get off my lawn! |
|
I am 28 and officially old. It seems the under-15 population of our entire street has decided to make our front lawn their home base, and it is driving me CRAZY.
Feel free to blast me if you want. I know a lot of people think it's a right of childhood for kids to have the run of the entire unfenced area of their neighborhood. I just need to vent.
This is a group of kids from at least four different houses all in a stretch on the other side of the street. So it's not like they don't have space. I have asked them a few times to please stay in their yards, which works for that day only, then they're back like I never said a word. They *usually* aren't causing any damage, though they have found it fun to carve chunks from the utility pole in our yard, and have run into our parked cars while playing football. But they ARE always LOUD, and it is getting on my nerves!

1. Well then, maybe you need to pull out the time-proven ace up the sleeve known simply as |
|
the 'dog-poop option'.
I think I've said quite enough already.
The rest is up to you.
And someone's 'best friend'.
Good luck.

Nothing scares away lounging kids more than the possibility of sitting in poop

6. The bus stations in Tucson... |
|
. ...play the most inane Renaissance Faire-type string music over their loudspeakers to keep the kids away - 3 or 4 repetitious lame-ass instrumentals that are annoying for anybody and everybody the FIRST time you hear them -- let alone for the fifth time before your bus gets there.. . It works. Kids don't hang for long. Unfortunately, it's hell on all their riders, too. And I can't IMAGINE what it must be like to put in an 8-hour shift with that in the background the whole time. .

8. Equipment: 1) boom box; 2) Donny Osmond CD; 3) open front window. |
|
The implementation should be obvious.

Seriously. I hate it when children are allowed to run loose in the neighborhood. What are BACK yards for anyway? We have little ones, unsupervised, who ride their bikes into traffic. Cars have to stop to avoid them. The parents get mad at the cars for expecting the kids to get out of the way.
Parents - it's called D-I-S-C-I-P-L-I-N-E, and teaching respect for the property of others.

11. our neighbors bought their kids dirtbikes and they liked to drive them in the backyard |
|
they once went into our yard with them (causing dirtbike skid marks in my yard) and then had a little dirtbike party with all their little dirtbike friends. It is of course very loud and disturbs my pleasant valley sunday. my wife went over to the father of the kid during the party and in front of all the revelers reemed him a new one. they wouldn't speak to us for a while. oh well.

13. yeah....but hate to burst the bubble and all, 28 is not old |
|
I'm 34 ( 35 this August ) I don't consider myself old....but I do sympathize with your situation of kids in the neighborhood. Ours here ride their "razors" I believe is what you call them, right in the middle of the street. This street...you can just watch any drunk speed around a corner; it's an accident waiting to happen, and I'm waiting for some kid to get clipped by one of these speeders
