If you have Netflix, post the last movie that arrived in your mailbox...
or that you played in Instant Watch.

I just got Michael Caine in Bryan Forbes' 1968 "Deadfall" and Burt Reynolds and Catherine Deneuve in Robert Aldrich's 1975 "Hustle."

Before that, I watched Robert Altman's 1979 "Quintet," and Dean Martin in Billy Wilder's 1964 "Kiss Me, Stupid, and two Robert Aldrich movies: "The Killing of Sister George" and "Too Late The Hero" (I'm on a Michael Caine and Robert Aldrich kick).

Pretty much just a remake of 1973's "Dillinger." Decent popcorn flick, though.

9. "Airplane!"
Watched "Zero Hour!" a couple weeks ago, the 50's movie that they basically revised to make "Airplane!" -- the same plot, same name (Ted Stryker), and a lot of the same lines even. Had hoped to get them a bit closer together, but oh well.

12. I saw that once, too, after I had seen Airplane, of course.
Saw Airplane in the theatre when it first came out. The theatre was packed and I couldn't breath I was laughing so much. I noticed that I laughed at some jokes no one else laughed at.

Met Dana Andrews once. He was in a play in our local theatre and had laryngitis. He performed, but someone else read his lines off-stage. Weird.

15. 10 part Brit series The First World War
Quite detailed.
Most of us have learned WW l started because some guy shot the Archduke.
but why did he shoot him and what was it really about and how does that event lead to
the war in Bosnia again in 1992.?

Aha!!!!

Details matter.

This is a really good series.
think of it as the British version of Ken Burn's The Civil War.

65. Oh, you're in for a treat
I saw the first season on BBC America, and then, after I dropped cable, I couldn't wait for the Region 1 DVD release, so I bought both seasons from Amazon UK to play on my region-free player.

Much better than the U.S. version, in my opinion.

I've also bought the first season of Ashes to Ashes, which is a sequel of sorts, but I haven't watched it yet.

I don't get cable anymore and never got BBC America in the first place, and PBS is just getting around to airing the first season of Life on Mars. The BBC won't let me view things at their site, since I'm in the wrong region. But you can watch Ashes to Ashes on YouTube.

"After beginning an unexpected romance with her neighbor, Imogene (Jill Marie Jones), housewife Anora (Laura Harring) accidentally shoots her abusive husband, Ched (Oded Fehr), and then sets out on an outrageous road trip with her new lover and kids to dispose of the corpse. Nancy Kissam writes and directs this unpredictable romantic comedy that also stars Ashley Duggan Smith and Christopher Newhouse as Anora's children"

Not a great movie, but it had an interesting story line and some fun scenes. Over all, we enjoyed it.

I've only been able to watch the first part of it. It's odd but interesting so far.

74. Sparticus: Blood and Sand was my last instant
I'm not sure if I'm going to add the last episode to my DVD list.

I have The Uninvited and Gentleman Broncos to watch tonight if I don't drink or visit too much :P

Eagle Eye and Post Grad were my previous two.

It is hard for me to find a movie I actually do not like. I try to stay in the 2000s as far as movies I have delivered because chances are, if it was a good movie, I've seen it. There's nothing worse than having popcorn and beer all ready for a movie you don't want to watch again.

:hi:

75. Breaker Morant
An Australian movie about what most people identify as the first guerrilla war- the Boer War in South Africa at the beginning of the 20th century. It is in my opinion it has one of the most effective anti-war and anti-militaristic themes of any movie. I had seen it twice but my sister was visiting and had never seen it.

78. I've seen it before, too. Great stuff.
Edward Woodward died in November. Good way to honor him.

Boer War was when the British invented the modern concentration camp, too, I believe.
