Pink Floyd's 'The Dark Side of the Moon' remastered in 8-bit!?!
This is really nerdy, really weird, and really cool all at the same time.
Somebody took the time to do 8-bit renditions of the entire album.

I'm listening to 'Us and Them' right now, and I admit it's pretty damn interesting.
Check it out here:

and let me know what you think!

1. I dig it.

I used to have one for Neon Knights, but I think it's on an old comp.

Lemme see if I can find it on the tubes...

Found it, but I found one I like better, Four Horsemen:

If you're familiar with the guitar lead, you're gonna love this. It's note-for-note.

I record in 24 bit every day. I wouldn't even consider going below 16 bit.

4. Did you ever work with 12-bit?
I worked with a system in the 1980s that was recording voice-grade signals in 12-bit. It sounded okay for voice, and it saved a LOT of disk space.

6. 8-bit as in video game bleep bleepy sounds
Not DAW.

I do remember Ensoniq had an 8 bit sampler. Mirage I think it was. Sounded really cool in 1984.

3. Not so much "remastered"...
as "demastered."

8. Excellent!
I played it on one inch speakers and it was especially cool.

It made me want to start experimenting with MIDI again. But if I got hooked on MIDI someone would have to drag me out of my mad scientist lair just to make sure I ate. Then they'd have to smash my computers.

It's very nice to see this kind of stuff as someone else's obsession, not my own.

9. Interesting, but somebody needs to tell that blogger that that isn't what "remastered" means.
