Poll question: Do you snoop through friends/lovers/strangers bathrooms when visiting? |
|
A teacher of mine remarked today that we ALL snoop around in the medicine cabinets, drawers, and cabinets of friends/lovers/potential lovers/strangers just to snoop around.
I was appalled. Not that I have anything to hide, but the thought that people felt no boundaries horrified me.
Even as a Realtor, I never snooped...why in the hell would people do that?

1. Bathrooms, yes. Bedrooms, not so much. |
|
Unless I was there for a, uh, reason.

4. Well, most of the class seemed to think snooping was acceptable |
|
I felt really out of sync with humanity when I left the class and extremely disappointed in them.
Is it possibly generational? I am older if that matters.

but I don't open doors, drawers, cabinets.
I assume people peek in bathrooms more than anywhere else, and keep nothing in there that I don't care to have seen.

7. I am going to show my teacher this poll on Monday.... |
|
To show there are people out there who acknowledge boundaries.
Luckily he has a sense of humor.

Later in my dating life I was told by multiple lady friends that early in our relationship they snooped around my bathroom and later my bedroom. I just asked Alley, and she said she did to but "later in the game.." What the hell?!?

I think it's disrespectful and honestly what are you going to find? Is it worth really pissing the person off, looking like a psycho and possibly losing a friend?

Only to find toilet paper. I seem to alway be the person who uses peoples bathrooms when there's oly one square left on the roll. It's very annoying.

11. I've always felt that true respect is when you don't violate anyone's space |
|
even when you can get away with it. I'm also simply not interested in what people have in their medicine cabinets.

12. Well, it doesn't appall me |
|
but I wouldn't do it or really have any reason to.
I do snoop around looking at pictures on display in people's houses. I find that interesting. Especially seeing them when they were younger or what they consider their best memories.
(I'm talking pictures on walls or sitting on tables... not snooping for pictures in drawers or anything)

13. Sets a precedent as an untrustworthy sneak for the rest of the relationship, eh? |
|
No, we all don't do that. Your teacher is wrong.

15. Not me, and I try to keep anything of "value" out of my bathroom |
|
I still do the latter as a single person. I catch myself leaving a wad of cash or something in yesterday's pants pocket in hamper.
The bathroom is the only place anyone can properly lock themselves into within my space. Oh yea, I have had some pretty, hmm, unpredictible people in my home through the years. It just makes sense to keep it safe.
