Spotted a deer in my backyard this morning!
Edited on Fri Apr-09-10 07:10 AM by Ian David

This is the first time we've seen one here.

At one point, before I could get my camera phone, it was right next to the window.

Before this, all we've had are cats, squirrels, rabbits and Backyard Bob the Groundhog:

See prior thread:

Backyard Bob is back!

Also, there was a raccoon that scared the living shit out of me one night when I opened the back door, to find him hanging less than two feet from my face.

As I mentioned in this prior thread:

2. A ground hog can easily kill a cat, and make a mess out of a big dog too
While its hard to imagine a confrontation between a ground hog and a cat its not uncommon for dogs to get tore up by them. What happens is the dogs scare the groundhogs which run for their holes. The dog will chase and try to dig into the hole. Virtually every time the dog will come out of the hole with front of his nose and mouth chewed up by the hog.

7. Dear are rare here. Groundhogs are common. Wild turkeys are making a comeback.

More than once, I've pulled over to the side of the road to take pictures of wild turkeys on someone's yard.

You do NOT want a flock of those things in your yard on garbage day.

6. It wasn't already spotted?
:P

I got more excited by the groundhog! Around here deer are like roaches. If they aren't eating your plants they are dying in your yard after getting hit by a car. I still love to see them, but they aren't unusual.

Groundhogs, though, are mythical creatures. I've never seen a real one that I know of. He's a cute piker, eh?
