On a side note, is it CGI? Nobody in parking lot, and ground does not seem to fit a rollercoaster

15. I like coasters that feature lots of airtime
instead of the spin-n-puke aspects. One of my favorites is Goliath at Magic Mountain.

Here's a POV shot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqpowPCTBAM

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goliath_%28Six_Flags_Magic_Mountain%29

Drop: 255 ft
Length: 4,500 ft
Max speed: 85 mph

16. The maximum G-force on Goliath is reported to be 4.5
It's brutal.

Roller coaster manufacturers have dialed this number down in their newer designs, going more for the negative g forces and maximum speeds or sensations of speed.

"Record breaking" maximum g-forces are not advertised anymore because the g-forces in rides like Goliath are well past the point of comfort for most riders and an invitation to lawsuits.

Personally, I enjoyed Goliath, but not the segment where I weighed more than 800 pounds.

26. I'm aware of it but haven't been to Ohio in years
I'm a bit of a coaster nut. I was a member of ACE for a number of years and have been to events and marathons. Drop towers are another favorite of mine, like this one:

It was a long wait the first time, but the second time I got on it within minutes.

17. Oh, this is so cool!
Ever since I was a little girl, I've been addicted to roller coaster rides. The wilder, the better. As a kid, I would stay in my seat, while Mom and Dad had to buy a new ticket. The only way they got me out was when I started puking after the fifth or sixth go-around and they had to carry me home.

These days, about fifty years later, there's DH standing at the gate, holding my purse, hoping all will go well (considering my age). And there I am, whirling around up there somewhere... Love it. Just love it.

42. With me it's more an age thing,
and if I were on that ride, I'm worried about my arthritic fingers holding on to something, anything in a vice-like grip and refusing to let go when it's all over!

22. That Vegas ride...
.
...I wonder what percentage of people go back for a SECOND ride.
.
I would SO take a friend celebrating a birthday or a separation
from a jerk on that ride, hopefully with them being unaware of
exactly what it did. I'd go on with them and tell them that it
was just going to hang us over the edge for a little while --
phobically scary but not terrifying.
.
Afterwards... after they cooled down... like in a year or two...
I would point out just how glad they were to be ALIVE.
.

8. eh - the video was ok
but, I think that's as close as I care to get.

Never been much for roller coasters. I think the last one I got on was a fairly small one that was in the dark - I didn't realize going in that it was going to be a roller coaster. That was probably in high school.

I don't particularly enjoy them, and never have.

13. Nice but too long
Roller coasters should be short, fast and wild so that the adrenaline is just pumping. When they get too long, they get boring. At least to me - I'm a roller coaster nut. That's the reason I really don't much care for Medusa at Six Flags Vallejo - looks intimidating as hell while you're waiting in line but it's just too damn long. You end up tapping your fingers and saying, "Yeah, yeah, let's get it over with already" about halfway through.

This is a great ride - not a great video but a lovely roller coaster, especially if you get the front seat so you're just hanging suspended and looking down waiting for it to start. Short and wild - love it. :)

44. I don't know about that
I've done marathons with the club where we've ridden three hours straight stopping only to change coasters. Five or six back-to-back loops then move to another coaster or perhaps a different seat. I'm not an inversion fan; they do nothing for me except maybe scramble my middle ear. There are lots of rides that can do that. I like the big drops, the sense of speed and the zero-gee hills. Those I can ride all day long. If I had access to a plane I'd fly parabolic arcs all day, just to get that little taste of zero gee.

23. I don't usually like roller-coasters
Figure that if I want the biggest thrill I'll take up sky-diving someday. But there was one that was different - I think it's at some park or other down near Williamsburg VA - it's a roller-coaster in the dark. To me, THAT was scary, not seeing where you were going, added to the gut-jumping and disorientation. Strangely, I really really liked it!
