I can't tell if I'm tired or just feel nostalgic for sleep.

I can't tell if I'm tired or just feel nostalgic for sleep.
I'm working two full time jobs at the moment. I decided to do some seasonal work with a certain government agency that gets very busy this time of year, just to pay off some debts. No big deal, I worked much harder in grad school. But now I work from 9 to about 3 at my real job, go to this other place from 5 until 1:30, then often go back to my real job afterwards to finish up stuff I didn't finish during the day. I pick up the slack by going in for a couple of hours over the weekend.

So right now I'm lying in bed, trying to get back to sleep (or I was until I started playing on DU), since I got to sleep around five this morning and only slept until 8, and this is supposed to be my catch-up time on snoozing.

But I can't sleep. I really want to be asleep. I mean, really, really badly. But I can't get to sleep, and I can't tell if my wanting sleep is just an emotion or a physical need. I don't even feel tired, I just feel like I want to feel tired.

ANyway, thanks for listening. If I don't respond to any replies, you'll know why. It will mean I'm eating breakfast, probably. :(

1. I've found that working...
.
...double-shift hours is much better than working a split-shift job.
.
Double shifts and I knew all I could do is go home and DROP into bed
and struggle to get up the next day. Money? STU-FREAKIN'-PENDOUS!!!
.
I tended bar (in my favorite bartending location) where I was working
lunches from 11:00 - 2:30 or so and then coming back and working from
5:00 - midnight.
.
Anyone who's worked night hours in a bar KNOWS how wound up you are
and that when you get off work, it's like someone working "normal"
hours getting off at 5 PM.
.
Working those split hours was MUCH harder than working a double-shift.
My sleep patterns were nonexistent... and eventually, I fell asleep behind
the wheel and totalled my car (scratch on the forehead, but I murdered
one of the last of the great muscle cars -- a BEAUTIFUL 1971 Dodge Charger).
.
Be careful and (SERIOUSLY) focus when you're driving during these days.
.
The money's great, but you need to put a lot more time and effort into
making sure you're still around to reap the benefits. Diet and making sure
you get some serious decompression time (to include rest, relaxation AND
fun) is important.
.

2. Right now I'm driving a 2003 Dodge Neon
If I could be sure I'd survive that crash with only a scratched forehead, maybe I wouldn't focus quite so hard driving at night... :)

Good advice. The nutrition is killing me right now.
