Can somebody explain why so many logging shows? |
|
Did Weyerhausen buy all the channels? I mean wtf?
I'm assuming it's just corporate propaganda.

1. There seems to be a spate... |
|
. ...of "tough job" shows of all sorts (the one about the King Crab boats is fantastic, IMneverHO -- at least it was last year when I spent close to a week in the hospital and it was daily fare for a coupla hours -- not usually a big TV watcher). . I've never watched more than a coupla minutes at a stretch of any logging show (and I assumed it was the same one), so I don't know how much is "propaganda" and how much is current trendy interest levels in the viewing public. .

|
but I'm flabbergasted by the number of these shows.
American Loggers, Swamp Loggers, Heli-loggers, on & on :puke:

5. Deadliest Catch is a great show. |
|
I think those crabbers are much more tough than the logging guys, plus timber doesn't taste nearly so delicious as king crab.

3. So we won't feel so stupid cutting down trees. See, everyone is doing it! |
|
But there's really no good reason to cut down so many trees. Paper can be made from crop wastes and homes can be made from lightweight concrete blocks, recycled metal, and so on.
We could get plenty enough wood to make long lasting well crafted our-great-grand-children-will-still-be-using-it furniture, floors, and other woodcraft from recycling, storm fall, and garden plantations.

. ...and the bigger they are, the dumber they are, the sharper their objects are and, perhaps most importantly, the closer they are, the more I watch 'em. . I watch 'em REAL good. .

10. "White people at night..." (Richard Pryor) |
|
These guys are like the GOPers at work. All I know is from the ads - I'd rather read a book I have already read a few times than watch these guys do whatever iit is they do.

I like to watch smart guys with very sharp objects - that's why I'm a fan of the Pelletier's (American Loggers), the other guys, not so much. Some people dote on conflict, drama, angst, and failure - that's why, IMHO, some of the other shows find an audience.
