1. My dear Orrex!
Why, yes I have!

It was good...

Ultimately sad, though...

Did you see it?

:hi:

2. Several times, in fact
It's not exactly a "feel-good" movie, but it's remarkably well made, and Mickey Rourke's performance is incredible.

5. I agree...
And I could not remember the name of the actor! Yes, Mickey Rourke. Outstanding.

14. Her bewbies were good in
"Before the Devil Knows Your're Dead", too! It was a very good movie, too.

3. yep -- that was a great movie
Really a great surprise the first time I saw it. And while I've been pretty much indifferent to Mickey Rourke over the years, his performance was quite remarkable.

4. Yes. I loved it.
It was sad, but it was that beautiful not too sappy sad. It got it just right. And then of course it had professional wrestler extras in it it, to boot. Perfect.

6. Yeah, it was stupid.
Who the hell wants to see a movie about wrestling that isn't funny?

15. I'm the same way. It looked like a pretty good movie, but his head gives me the willies
It's so bad, I even passed up an opportunity to see Marissa Tomei pole dancing just to dodge that mug.

9. A good movie that makes you empathize with a born loser
Every one of the character's choices basically screws up everyone's life. You think he's going to get back into a good relationship with is daughter and he blows it just to get drunk and laid. He gets a caring beauty like Melissa Tormei only to pursue suicidal wrestling.

But he goes out his way. His choice. Yet you still care. Nothing was glossed over or made pretty for our sensitivities. I actually think the director must have wanted to see if they could make a loser sympathetic. It worked.

12. I could only get thru about 2/3rds of the movie and it was just annoying to me
I was definately glad that Penn won for "Milk". That movie affected me way more than "The Wrestler"

If that's all you took away from the film, then I suspect that you may have missed part of it.

But Mickey kind of overshadowed the good parts.

The great majority of them, in any case.

Are you sure we're talking about the same movie?

It's a bonus track on his most recent album.

22. I rarely watch movies that aren't either funny, or political/documentary ( Michael Moore etc)
but I rented this at someone's recommendation, and thought it was very very good.

26. Well, it's not a great movie for a first date
It's really good, though. Just not the kind of film you'd likely describe as "uplifting."
