People who are famous for being famous

Could someone intelligent explain to me why in the name of heaven and hell are the Kardashian sisters, especially Kim, famous? They have no talent, their father is very rich, so they can afford any kind of plastic surgery they want to enhance their shell, but they don't seem to have much inside worthy of being praised over. So WHY exactly are they famous?

Oh, and we could, I expect, throw Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie into the mix as well, though Paris kind of exonerated herself with the "celebrity" oil and energy video.





I know all the regular reasons. All the gossip columnists from years ago keeping people interested in celebrities through their columns. But there is a difference nowadays between someone who is famous because of their talent or their station in life, and being famous simply because they come from a wealthy family. I am personally disgusted by some of the articles on some of these people, expecially the Kardashiam girls, because they seem to have brains filled with fluff, little morals, and definitely no ambitions that are even worth knowing about. And then you get a photograoh like this which pisses ME off, and doesn't make me want this woman near anything that I hold dear, but then, since I do have a brain, and can't fit into her 40DD bras, I wouldn't count at all, anyhow, in her circle of friends. Trust me, I might be poor, but at least I've got some morals in life.

What else are you gonna keep the plebes distracted with... philosophy books? Recycling? Come on, fuckin' guy, people are gonna waste their time on something. Would you rather watch a show about an emotionally well adjusted family?

but I will take your comment rhetorically. I just think that Ms Kardashian is the epitome of the word, "cockteaser." And if that's what best represents the "American male" mindset, that's a very sad--VERY sad--look at the degradation of our society in general.

3. Then I apologize for my crudeness

The phrase "Come one, fuckin' guy" is a line from the dullard Canadian urban wannabe rapper "Chuggo" and something of an in-joke around here in the Lounge. I'm afraid he's yet another sign of social degradation. For what it's worth, I'm not convinced it's all of society being degraded. When I was a kid there was a whole lot of insipid trash on TV. It was vapid rather than sleazy, but I'm not sure vapid is really a step up from sleazy. I personally take great consolation from the fact that nation wide sales of rap & hip-hop CDs are plummeting faster than, well, Kim Kardashian's neckline. It's just not shocking any more. I suppose in a few years something shocking will break through and be equally annoying to me. I don't have a TV, so I don't get to be shocked by Kim Kardashian.

4. I don't watch any show connected with them

I just find her and her sisters as spoiled little bitches who are worse than some of the other icons of a slothy lifestyle. They take what they want, and they put nothing back. Fur coats, gas guzzlers, a carbon footprint as large as a city. I knoe that there has always been this attention paid to people who have absolutely no redeeming actors, but to sit and watch a reality show with these people? You would have to sedate me if you were going to make me watch it. And then, absolutly, I would put up an enormous fight about it.

She does have a nice kitty, though. She should treat the little critter better!
