It's been a while since I've seen him in the Lounge -- is he doing OK? :hi:

I was just thinking about him the other day...
I have not seen him around here, or on Facebook...
I hope he's OK, and just busy!
I should call, but I never know when would be a good time!

First, congrats on the MFA decision! I missed the thread originally... you must be so excited! Do you know what schools you'll apply to?
Would love to know if ThomCat's OK. I'm not on Facebook, but if you catch up with him, or call him, please tell him I'm thinking of him. :hi:

I have run into a fairly significant roadblock, alas...
I should have realized that this would not be simple. Since my undergraduate work was not in the field of English, I have some classes that I need to take before I can apply for the MFA...
So......this is going to be a process.
I'm just going to apply at Cal State Long Beach.
I will pass your message along, once I find him!

4. Ah. But that's probably a good thing, taking |
|
some classes first -- might help you refine even more your choices in the MFA program.
One of my sisters graduated from CSLong Beach :)

But I'm not young.....and I can see this taking years. I know I'm being silly...
It just was a bit of a jolt; I just found out today...
Cool about your sister!:)

I just happened to see your post about needing to fulfill extra pre-reqs before you can apply for the MFA. The same thing happened for me when I applied for my masters program in counseling psych in 2008. I wasn't a psych undergrad major, so I had to take 3 extra classes ON TOP OF the regular grad classes during the first 9 mos of my program. Luckily, they were willing to let me do both at the same time, but it was pretty intense taking all those units at once, after 22 yrs of not being a student. I could've taken a year just to do the pre-reqs but, I was on the waiting list for the grad cohort and when an opening came up unexpectedly, I decided to jump in w/ both feet. Talk about stressful.
Anyway, I can understand your frustration when you find out it's gonna take you longer than you thought it would to fulfill your dream. We're not gettin any younger....
I can relate b/c I recently realized it'll take me a lot longer to get licensed as an MFT than I'd originally thought. I need 3000 hrs before I can even sit for the boards, but my plan of only working 20-25 hrs/wk to get them will make it take longer, as it turns out. I thought I could crank them out in 2-3 yrs, AFTER graduation, but it's probably gonna take more like 4-5 yrs. Sigh. :(
It is what it is. Just wanted to offer sympathy. Hang in there. Like you said, the reward is sweeter when you work hard for it.

10. Aw, thanks, my dear Shine... |
|
I haven't yet explored just how much longer this will be.
I am going to hang in there!
It's definitely a process.
Grim determination is keeping me going!

I'm feeling better today...
After all, if the mountain's steeper than expected, then the prize at the top will be that much sweeter.

I haven't seen him here or on FB, and I hope that means he's having a helluva good time doing something else.
