One of my sweet girl cats, Silver, has trouble with her jumper

She's a beautiful, 5 year old Maine Coon mix (Silver/platinum mixed with black), but she has trouble, probably 3-4 times out of 10, jumping up on things higher than 2.5 feet. It's sort of pitiful, and funny, to watch her try for the kitchen counter, jump halfway, land back on her back feet and then propel herself upward again. Neither of her two other sisters have this issue; in fact, the two others seem to be able to levitate.

Silver usually makes it the second time.

Anyone else have cats with faulty 'jumpers'?

Sometimes her tongue sticks out for a while, too. I wonder if the rubber band that connects the tongue with the rear-jumper mechanism is stretched out? ;)

5. My cat Samy doesn't put enough into it at times...

He's about 10 now...He goes up to the dryer, stops..then a puny attempt to jump gets him about a foot in the air and right back down where he was. Then he looks around to make sure nobody saw his faulty attempt, and jumps right up there.

6. Could it have anything to do with her vision?

One eye not so good, lousing up her depth perception or something?
I love my kitties, too. And I love the way they get embarrassed when they goof. ("I meant to do that!")

Good appetite, good vision. She's 5 years old and in all other respects healthy.

Just lackadaisical sometimes with her jumping :D

Getting her teeth professionally cleaned! Now you've made me feel guilty. Do you suppose the vet will give me a deal on six cats?

10. we have six, too. And I'd do it myself if

she didn't have such tartar problems. She's probably going to need some teeth removed, and I just can't swing it right now - so I'm not the best cat momma. I do know she needs it, though. The other kids I can maintain with semi-regular 'brushing' but my sweet Silvergirl has some serious tartar.

It'd be nice if vets could give a bulk discount! I always tried to get my vets to charge their access fee only once if I brought in several cats at a time, but they never would - they'd always charge an access fee for each one.

I know they need to make money, but sometimes the owners need a break, too. All my babies were strays. So I just quit taking in the ones who don't go outside. They had three years of shots in a row, so I'll update them in a year or so (skip every other year).

11. I found a wonderful vet around here...

We had a colony of ferals under my porch and as I captured them, he altered them for a really nice low fee. There were about 5 breeding females, all neutered and released. I could never catch the Tom. Now I have 6 of the grown kittens living in my house, and the momma of them all, neutered, of course, lives right outside in her own private heated-in-the-winter cat house. She lets me pet her when i feed her, but hasn't deigned to step inside the house yet. The Tom left a long time ago, of course, for lack of action.

12. I switched vets - the new vet

gives me a multiple cat discount which helps. My very big Boo-Boo can't jump more than maybe 2 feet. Doesn't seem to bother him.
