A play w/ only 1 female role, who is a "legend"/historical figure...
and is a "role to die for". Might be blood onstage, it's an old piece reworked in the '70's. Help here. These are the hints my daughter's HS Theatre director hinted to her today for his choice for next year's one-act competitive play.

According to cast lists, it has a Duchess too, but she only has 2 lines:

6. Why is he choosing a play with only one female role?
When I was in HS (back in the dark ages) plays were picked making sure there were roles for as many students as possible, both male and female.

9. Sadly, has one strong female actress next year -- my daughter. The
other young women who are strong enough to carry a play are graduating this year, while my baby is only a Sophmore. Their best actress this year (a senior) won Best Actress at every UIL Competition this year including Regionals. This HS has a fantastic Theater program that thank jah hasn't been cut due to funding. Next year the instructors have several VERY strong male leads to choose from, and my gal - who sorta of came out of left field this year to blow everyone away - and a few other young ladies who need more seasoning.

16. My first thought was "Macbeth," although technically it has two female roles.
(Lady Macduff.) And it's "reworking" in the '70s was in film (Roman Polanksi's terrific interpreation.)

Other than that I've got nothing.
