1. Not a new face, but ..... Hello!

I've been around since the first GWB administration but I seldom post. I've been posting a little more lately, so I'm kinda new in that respect.

I'm fascinated by history, especially ancient history and pre-history. My favorite bands are Yes and Radiohead. I'm an idealist, both politically and personally. I can't understand why people are willing to settle for a society that leaves so many people behind. I probably have a totally unrealistic notion of what a good romantic relationship should be, but I hope I never decide to give up, get "realistic", or settle.

This is a case where little things matter. This is not my first message board. MBs are communities, and communities are best helped by communication between individuals. Help a person, you help the community around that person. Help to advance an idea, and you further the cause of rational debate. I don't "think" I can help, necessarily, but I'd like to try. :)

I'm the doctor. My goal is to heal. I will first do no harm. And I've been disappointed before; no reason not to keep trying.

Morbius is a man in his late forties residing in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. Morbius has been married since 1991 to the same woman, though to be fair we've both changed a bit since then. There is a female scion from this union, currently nearing the age of sixteen.

Morbius works as an electrician in a posh hotel just north of Chicago's fabled Loop. Morbius began life as a conservative but quickly came to his senses at the age of 18, when removed from the house of his parents. Morbius has progressively become more liberal ever since.

Morbius fancied himself a philosopher and his favorite subject is freedom. Morbius posted for about five years on Ed Schultz's message board, and is now here for your amusement and edification.

Morbius always wrote in the third person. Nowadays it's an occasional affectation.

I am not Morbius. Morbius is someone I become on the internet. We share the same values, pretty much, but the doctor is much more vain than myself! Watch out, because one of the results of this "third person" thing is that Morbius and I begin to converse.
