Name a classic movie that you're supposed to have seen, but haven't. |
|
Mine is the Sound of Music. So sue me.

2. E.T. - not really a classic |
|
But it seems that everyone universally blabbers over this movie.
And, I've never watched Star Wars the whole way through.

3. ET is great, but if you're older than 12, it doesn't really make sense to see it |
|
See it with your kids if you have 'em. It's easy to get a bang out of things that you're too old for if you can see it through their eyes.

It's one of those things that I would watch if I were to come across it while flipping channels, but it never seems to air.

Clearly I didn't understand that movie, so while I have technically seen it, I usually say that I haven't.

Tom Hanks (I think) is in it...Life is like a box of chocolates; you never know what you're going to get.
It took the Oscar for best picture the year the Shawshank Redemption should have gotten it.
I have no desire to see it, whatever its name is!
:P
I remembered! Forrest Gump

Forrest Gump was an awkward mishmash of unrelated nonsense, trying to be hyperemotional and socially significant at the same time.
It may have gotten an Oscar, but I wouldn't really call it a 'classic.'
Shawshank was 1000 times better, and it's a movie that holds up very well over time.

I was 13 when it came out and from all the publicity surrounding it I was too scared to see it. My sister saw it, and a couple of my friends saw it, and they were shaken up and one of my friends even vomited in theater. I decided I would never subject myself to it. To this day I still have never watched it, though I have viewed the most famous bits of it on Youtube. Although I have curiosity about the whole film I still don't feel inclined to subject myself to it and the possible nightmares afterwards, etc.

compared to a lot of what's out there these days, not so much, IMO.
I still like the movie -but then, movies I find most fun tend to be horror movies with Catholicism thrown in - and The Exorcist is probably the best of those.

I'm waiting for the mash-up - "The hills are alive with the sound of Rosebud...."
As a teenager, I worked in a movie theater that played the sound of music, and I still didn't see it. So on my first backpacking trip to Europe there wasn't a reason to take the Sound of Music tour in Salzburg. Ruined my life.
