I hate when Repair/Cable people say they'll be there between 10-2...and come at 3 |
|
Its not like I enjoy having to wait around possibly for four hours...hey, why not make it five?!!

1. Charge them for your time |
|
Write up an invoice notating the promised time of arrival and the actual time they arrived. That promised was breached, but can be handled by restitution.
We have a "punctual plumber" here in town that pays you $5 for every minute they are late. You could use that guideline.

2. Maybe they were held up? |
|
Had other appointments that took longer than expected. That's why they give that 4 hour window.

4. About two years ago, I scheduled a repair and got the "We'll be by between 10 and 2" routine, |
|
gave up at 3 and went on an errand run. When I got back from the errands, there was a message on my machine berating me for not being there at the scheduled time and instructing me to call xxx-xxxx to reschedule
Last summer, I had a delivery scheduled and got the "We'll be by between 10 and 2" routine. They didn't show at 2, but I figured as long as I got away from home by 2:30 for other appointments, all was cool. At 2:30, I give up, and go outside to get in my car -- and look! it's the delivery man! He decides he can't back up my long driveway and will have to leave the truck in the street. OK. I'm ready, I open the doors, I know where to tell him to put the stuff. He mucks around getting stuff in the truck out of the way. What's taking so long? Oh, didn't I know? I have to help him get the delivery out of the truck and up my drive. OK. Help carry the stuff into my house. At 2:45, I can finally leave home. I'm late for my appointment, of course
