Damn it is humid here in Houston.
Had to turn on the ac for the first time this year.

It is only 76 but feels like 96 in August.

I should not complain to much, at least the oil isn't coming our way, yet.

1. Gonna be..
85-90 hot and humid here in Delaware this weekend. I'll be turning my air on too. But since we got hammered this winter with snow storms, I'm looking forward to summer and my pool. YAY!

9. It was 96 percent humid today.
I am having a bad hair day because of this.

2. Still have the air off here near Big D
Will try to make it until May 15 without turning it on.

6. My goal was to wait until sometimes in May.
The animals wouldn't go out today, they were loving the ac.

11. I'm pretty sure I'll make it
I'm hoping it will be June sometime before I turn it on. I have ceiling fans throughout my house and I can generally tolerate it well until it gets past the mid 80's.

12. The weather has been Ok until today.
I can take the heat but not the humid weather.

I was just a wet rag outside today, and inside until I turned on the ac.

13. It definitely gets a lot more humid where you live
Humidity is generally not a big problem around the Dallas area. That's why my ceiling fans are pretty effective this time of year.

Also I do a lot of stuff outside, so I don't like to use my A/C any sooner than I have to because I want to be acclimated as best as I can.

15. Y'all get really bad winter storms that we don't get here.
I am so trying to get ready for summer, heat proofing does help.

I walked to the little neighborhood store for a Mexican coke and was just sweating all the way home.

I hate summer.

18. July and August are really the only bad months here
Those two months are pretty much a challenge to keep all the plants in my yard alive. I've got a lot of native and heat loving plants, so I don't usually do too badly and I can get by with watering no more than twice per week even in the worst of it.

20. A lot of our plants are dead or very slowly coming back after our winter.
We had the big freeze, that 28 degrees killed a lot of stuff.

I covered everything up but it didn't help.

I don't know what will come back and what is really dead.

This one plant that was really tall, is now coming back.

It was a a good 20 ft. tall before the freeze.

Time will tell what will make it.

I will replace with more cold loving plants.

The yard still looks sad.

25. I can imagine
You get to grow a lot of stuff that just doesn't work here in the Dallas area. I'd love to have Bouganvilla or Camellia, but they just don't make it through the winter here unless you bring them inside.

26. The lady who owned the place before us planted a lot of tropical plants.
This timne of year they should be beautiful but not now.

I had to cut all the dead stuff away and hope the roots are still alive.

I am only planting the garden now.

When it warms up I will know what is still alive.

29. Hi texanwitch!
Once the weather heats up here in Germany, it turns muggy after only a couple of days. I love spring and early summer so much when it's just nice and warm. But once the humidity kicks in, it damn near kills me. And no one over here has air conditioning at home.

Beaumont and Houston are so close... I remember our recent conversation - I think it was a thread about spring - where I mentioned getting on the plane in Frankfurt last June, where it was about 60°. Got off the plane in Houston and walked into a brick wall of 103° heat and 90-some-odd-percent humidity. I wonder how people made do in pre-air-conditioning days?

3. It's supposed to cool off again this weekend, I think.
Lows should be back in the high 50's, I think. We've had a cooler than usual Springtime, I think.

5. I held out until today, the weather has been really decent for this time of year.
Today was just to humid, even the animals didn't like it.

I hope it cools off Sunday.

Saw the pictures of your little girl, she is really cute.

I was a little under the weather today so the added humidity made me feel even more crumby.

17. My allergies have really been bad for the past few weeks.
I do feel better with ac on.

I have the ac on 79, with the fans it is just fine.

All the animals were sleeping under the celing fans, wouldn't move.

21. My allergies have kicked my ass today.

I almost feel like I'm coming down with something. My cats have taken up their "summer cat" mode. Cat bodies splayed out anywhere that's cool.

The herbs finally kicked in so I can go off the behind the counter drugs.

It is nice to see without using eye drops.

I was crying a river for awhile.

23. We're getting a buttload of rain right now
Flood warnings in the counties to our west and along the coast. And once the rain quits we're supposed to be pretty hot over the weekend - 88-90, probably with high humidity because of this rain. So much for spring!

On the other hand our Louisiana iris are in full bloom, the wildflowers in the field are starting to bloom and the first caladium has put out a leaf. And the honeysuckle is blooming up a storm and the stench is just about strangling me.

24. Oh the honeysuckle and jasmine right now are strong.
I love it though. Now that the pollen is gone, I am enjoying it. Our caladiums are coming out too. Last year they were gorgeous. We had so many compliments on them. I hope they come back even stronger this year.

We are supposed to get almost 4 inches of rain this weekend. x( We got plenty last weekend.

27. I'm allergic to sweet odors so I've been wheezing
I'd chop out the honeysuckle but at this time of year there are so few flowers for the butterflies, hummingbirds, and other nectar seekers I'd feel mean. There are some very old vines in the live oaks on either side of the house and the weather has been so lovely I've had the windows open despite the pollen and fragrance. Oh well, at least we killed off the wisteria that was even worse.

I'm not sure how much rain we've gotten - probably 1-2" and it looks like the rain is pretty much over.

14. Humid here in Austin too
Turned the AC on in the computer room so I could be comfortable. The rest of the house is OK with just the ceiling fans so far, but if this keeps on I'll have to turn on the central AC.
