Nostalgie pour le Folie....
Tabloids came up recently here, and piqued my interest in one not now, alas, still published....

1. 'A Guided Tour of Heaven'!
I wonder who their readership was?

'Fat Cat Owns 23 old ladies'

I remember seeing that tabloid at the super-market check-out.

Love the headlines, I don't think they were meant to be taken seriously until people did!

2. And Did You Take Tour Of Heaven, Ma'am?

6. Lol, yes I did. I was especially
interested in the news of a 'mouth balm' that would enhance kissing and as a result, increase romance!

And 'Heaven' for one man, marriage to a store mannequin complete with marriage license, was an interesting story.

Amazing story of a woman who gave birth to puppies. Don't know how I missed that. But my favorite is the Dentist who delivers knock-out punches to his patients rather than abuse them by using standard medical methods of putting them to sleep. I wonder if he's still in business?

3. I loved the WWN!
It was pure satire, every bit of it.

4. While some things can be satire.
Edited on Sat May-01-10 05:44 AM by RandomThoughts
Some things can not be mocked, and even someone that tries to make it satire would not be able to. Or in spirit, one thing can not be mocked.

5. They're still online but, sadly, not the same
They should have given the web version the same look as the paper. Avoiding the use of color alone would've set them apart.

7. Or as a friend of mine called it "Son Of Enquirer"
She worked for the Enquirer at the time and the stuff they couldn't get into the Enquirer got put into WWN

11. Unfortunately, Ma'am, They Seem To Have Meant it, Or Their Purchasers Mostly Thought So, Anyway....
Now the Onion, on the other hand, frequently produces the sharpest and most acute journalism available, and without trying....

12. But to an intelligent, thinking person
it does read like a low-brow Onion, no matter how they meant it. ;)
