PSA: Remembering the "lost Mothers" of Mothers' Day
Edited on Mon May-03-10 04:50 AM by Coventina
Just want to put this out for consideration:

As all the hype ramps up for Mother's Day, please remember all the mothers who have lost their babies before birth due to miscarriage.

Miscarriage is a secret sorrow that many women carry with them. Even if people in their life know, it is often not talked about, or acknowledged as a true loss and grief.

Some women do not want to talk about it, but many do, but feel that their friends and family either avoid or minimize the subject.

Please remember that these women feel that they are mothers as well, but have no child to hug.

If you know someone that has had a miscarriage in the last year, and you are in a close enough relationship, don't forget them this Mothers' Day. Give them a call, or send a note acknowledging their loss and offering comfort or a listening ear if they need it.

If you have a very close relationship, and know something about their tastes and desires, even get them a gift, something that either pampers them (massage, spa day, lotions, comfy robe or slippers or even just their favorite snack food) or maybe a symbolic piece of jewelry, or a gift to their favorite charity in the honor/memory of "Baby Smith".

It will really mean a lot.

Thanks,

Coventina

4. Thank you. Eleven years ago I lost my only pregnancy to miscarriage.
And every year near that date I feel blue.

I don't venture out on Mother's Day. Too often people feel the need to wish every woman a Happy Mother's Day...
It's not happy for me.
