I need socks with traction. Here's the story, I got orthotics about 2 months ago |
|
and I have to wear them all the time. THey're like an insole in the shoe.
And they're very smooth, so my foot slides around within the shoe. This may sound goofy, but it's true. It doesn't slide around that much, but even a little is too much when you're chronologically gifted.

How about getting some of those socks that they give out in the hospital? The kind with the sticky stripes on the soles?
Your local medical supply place should have them.
Or, maybe you could wear the orthotic inside the sock.
Hope you find a solution!

blogslut jr. wore an orthotic foot/leg brace for a few years but it strapped around the leg and covered most of the top of her foot so it didn't slip. However, buying shoes to accommodate both feet was a flat-out pain in butt.
PS: They make all kinds of slipper socks with little rubbery bits on the bottom. Check out the sleepwear section of your local store.

I have wood floors in my apartment, and although I'm usually barefooted in the spring and summer, do need a little something on my feet during the cold months. And then I found the coolest socks: Fat black and white stripes, with bright red rubbery dots on the soles. Too cool.
And they work. Highly recommended!

4. I've been wearing orthotics for nearly 30 years. |

Your foot should not move. If you feet slide around, then your shoes are too large. You need to shop for new shoes, and make sure you put the orthotics in each new pair of shoes you try. If you can't afford new shoes right now, then wear TWO pairs of socks. Wear a thick athletic sock (ankle high is great) next to your skin and a dressier sock on the outside.
You can also get a piece of fine grit sandpaper and use it to rough up the top of the orthotic where it contacts you foot.
Properly cared for your orthotics will last many years, a decade minimum.
