"I don't give out my email address" - from a gov't agency |
I just got told this from a woman who works for a government agency. WTH... That would be like someone in the 1950s saying "I don't give out my mailing address."
What good reason would someone who works for a government agency have for not giving out her email address? No, it's not in the intelligence community.

1. Not wanting to receive email? |
Seems a good enough reason to me. That govt. agency probably has a website, and that website probably has a listing of email addresses through which the agency conducts business. I do not blame an individual within the agency for not wanting to share his/her own email address.

2. I don't usually give mine, either |
I don't want a bunch of people outside my institution emailing me - I have enough email to wade through as it is from the other people who work here. I don't provide my persona email, either, as a rule. I gave it to my kids' teachers, school nurse, etc, but I don't give it out to most people.
