Would you be interested in a DU movie club?

The idea: kind of like the monthly Photography Contest threads in GD, the idea would be to watch movies and discuss them.

So there'd be a recommendation thread, where anybody would suggest a movie. Some kind of volunteer club moderator would pick a movie (or maybe two or three), then we'd put the movies in our Netflix queue (or whatever), watch them, and then talk about the movie (or any or all if multiple movies selected) in a discussion thread the following week.

The movies: Being a club for cinemaphiles, the movies would be at least somewhat obscure. Unless you could give us a good reason why we should watch Star Wars again. The would not necessarily have to be good movies. A bad film with interesting failures can often generate more discussion than movies that everybody agrees is good. Any and all genres. Liberal-minded political documentaries get no preference despite the nature of this board, they'd have to compete with everything else. Discussions can cover any topic- sexy actors, film techniques, interesting facts about the crew, plot, etc.

2. I never see movies until they've been out on DVD for so long most people have forgotten about them.

And sometimes I don't see them until they've come out on LaserDisc. Of course, I haven't watched all of the LaserDiscs I own yet - still working on it.
