Are you happy with your homepage? I need to get rid of msn after all these years.
It's just fluff and crap and the new page looks bad. They took away the blue and made it white.

I have to dig around for news because it's all nonsense now.

I'm sure there are plenty of people who are happy with their homepage.

Can you share a good one with me please? Maybe something that I can customize and get a nice looking format.

Thanks for the help.

4. Thanks, Kali ... and not a bad idea since I'm an earth science type.
And I just love where you live, btw. Took a great road trip there back in October. Camped around all over Mt. Graham and the Greasewoods, then down to the Chiricahuas.

Had the best time.

Thanks for the idea.

Cheers.

15. I will be sending you a pm, and I will be the one buying the beer(s).
Cause we'll be celebrating the repeal of that weird collection of words on that nasty piece of paper, signed by those horrific examples of personhood.

Oh, and uh, cheers.

2. My dear kayakjohnny!
I use Google for my homepage...

I love it because I'm always looking stuff up...

And now and then they have a cool logo when it's someone's birthday or some such!

12. Thanks, Peggy.
I should consider that. It's an obvious choice, huh?

Guess I'm trying to get away from all the whiteness though.

But I'm like you ... ALWAYS looking things up.

Everyone always asks me, how did you find that? (on the net)....

The secret? I'm really good with search words.

I believe you can find anything in the world with the right combo of search words.

Need to be able to see them.

14. Thank you everyone for taking the time to help.
For the moment, I'm going to try My Yahoo.

They let me pick a custom format for my zip code, let me change the background and alter a few important things here and there.

And I don't have to jump through the registration hoops at all.

Thanks again, all you internet persons and electronic entities that most likely represent actual people somewhere in the real world.

Except of course, for you-know-who.

Cheers all.

You can customize the basic Google page with all kinds of different applications. I have weather, news, moon phase, clock, foreign language words of the day, a dictionary.com search link, and a few other things. There are so many ways to customize igoogle to your particular tastes and interests that I wouldn't want another homepage now.

ETA: You do have to sign up for a gmail account so that your customizations can be saved, but I love my gmail account, so it's not a problem for me. I just know that some people don't want another email account, so I thought I would save you the time if you are one of those people. :silly:

I've happily used gmail for years as well.

21. I usually use a local news site that has entertainment and weather options.
I can check the weather, see what acts I am missing because I didn't hear about them before the concert (this is Austin, so I've missed some great shows), and see what weird things have happened nearby that might affect me. For instance, a couple months ago I found that a plane had hit an IRS building on my way to work, so I knew to take a detour.

Also, if there is a really big national story, they'll show it, too.

22. Astronomy Picture of the Day is my home page
So I start with pretty or interesting pictures. http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/astropix.html

But then I usually go to Google News to read the headlines and follow any stories that I want to read. I tried iGoogle but it was a PITA and kept trying to insist on being my home page even when I told it no. http://www.google.com/news

What I like about Google News is that if I sign in with my Google account I can customize it and add categories for the place I live and subjects I am interested in. AND block subjects I don't care about. I can even block sources I don't want to read, but that is harder.
