Lakeville, Mass. Residents attacked by Red-Tailed Hawks

LAKEVILLE, Mass. -- People in one local town are keeping their eyes to the sky because of some new neighbors.

A pair of red-tailed hawks that made a nest in a tree between two homes have been aggressively protecting their eggs.

The hawks have gone after at least two Lakeville residents, including Steve Sherrick.

“It felt like somebody just came up from behind me and punched me in the head...So all of a sudden, I got hit in the back of the head, hat went flying,” Sherrick said.

Residents said they noticed the birds building their nest a few weeks ago. A short time later, neighbor Janet Pratt said the birds became aggressive.

“All of a sudden we noticed a change in the birds,” Pratt said.
