1. I'm convinced their goal is to dumb down the American populace...
...to the point where a head of lettuce has a better IQ than the average American.

7. Nothing new.
There was a guy during the 1970's, who wrote a book where he claimed aliens were "landscaping" the moon, and he had photos to prove it!

These were photos taken by space probes and Apollo missions, that had been processed for other books, hence the quality of the photos was bad.

A rock that had rolled down a slope looked like a bulldozer and a track.

Hasn't it been The Childbirth Channel for a few years, looping the same half-dozen shows continuously?

12. You should have watched StongeAge Atlantis on NatGeo
Edited on Mon May-10-10 02:13 AM by csziggy
All about the area between England and Europe that was above water during the last Ice Age. Some cool info on the underwater archeology and accurate mesolithic period information for a change.

Frankly, at first when I saw the title I thought it was going to be yet another pseudoscience show, but it was really great.

14. Agreed - it was excellent
NatGeo has been of uneven quality lately, what with the "Locked Up Abroad" series for example, but Stoneage Atlantis was very good.

My husband and I actually stopped subscribing to the magazine because we felt it had been dumbed down too much and the articles were just not what they had been. Now, since it's sold on newstands, if we see an issue that has an article we think we might enjoy we sometimes buy it. Sadly, most of the time we are disappointed - the writing is poor and contains nothing that we didn't already know. The photos are still ok however.

26. Years ago I paid $200 for a life time membership to NatGeo mag
So I will get it forever - if I live as long as my Mom, they will lose a whole lot of money on me. I read every issue, but you are right, the writing is not as good as it used to be.

ALL the cable channels have gone downhill. Every one of them have pseudoscience and seem to be adding prison shows or reality shows. I just stay selective about what I watch, though I have to admit I do watch some of the pseudoscience shows to keep up with the current popular mythologies.

15. I wish I had NatGeo
It's still better than the History Channel right now. I even had to stop watching their new series about American History because all of their so-called "experts" were nothing but actors and corporate representatives. I miss the days of Civil War Journal where they actually had HISTORIANS and Professors talk about history.

25. I know - I wanted to watch The History of Us
Since I am working on family history projects right now and I thought it would be a nice refresher to go along with that. But I watched about thirty minutes of the first episode and have not watched it since. It is so superficial and glossed over some of the major points of our history - like the treatment of the Indians and the introduction of slaves. And the commentary was not enlightening, just annoying.

I suspect that it is aimed at the GOP and Tea Party level of understanding American History rather than the truth.

17. I'm a fan of the pseudoscience up to a point ...
I think it is possible that there could still be major ancient civilizations we have yet to discover, or at least extensive pre-historic trading networks that went far beyond what is currently supposed. But the ancient alien stuff really goes over the line for me.

19. The History Channel is Wikipedia on TV.
They stopped caring about actual facts along time ago, they present commonly held thought even if they are foggy on their facts. Facts don't make good tv, well at least tv doesn't think so.

30. At least Velikovsky never got into the Ancient Astronauts or
Nabiru, and was correct in some of his predictions on planetary conditions that ran counter to the then current thinking but were proved correct once probes got there.

27. Think of it as multidimensional.
Although it is not aliens, the alien concept is to bring stacked worlds into a concept of everything being in normal world. It is the same thing trying to hide the supernatural so some can use it in secret for domination.

I was tipped off on that many years ago during a conflict, when a reply was "closer then you think."

31. This will get sent to the 9/11 dungeon, but....
David Icke writes books about this stuff. I don't know how much of it I believe.

But then I haven't had an alien encounter, nor have I ever seen a ghost, but if I had experienced them I would believe in them. Other people may well have encountered them in their reality.

I've seen pics of round white area lit up on the moon with a blue plasma glow coming out of it.

Weird.
