but it's an easy way to identify her. She's been around a long time, can be a real hoot, loves pets, and it's sort of like Sara Lee - "Who doesn't like Betty White?". A lot of people would adopt her if they could.

Lucy didn't show up there till '51, so that makes Ms. White more of a television pioneer than her more powerful contemporary. Betty also represents those days of classic TV. She appeared on two highly rated and critically acclaimed TV shows (MTM & Golden Girls). She's 88 and full of life, still working and a damn good sport to boot. Personally I don't think the material that SNL presented her with was up to her standard, but then very little of TV today is.
