And it's HIS fault that 1/3rd of all girls now are named 'Jennifer'.

1. People say I'm just interested in scatological humor...
.
...but what they don't realize is that I love they beauty in life, too.
.
Say, for example, a Donovan song:
.

.
.
I have regular lab tests done by a sweet, pretty lab tech named Jennifer
and every time I'm on my way there "Jennifer... Juniper" is my earworm --
I don't remember any of the lyrics (except that there's French in there
somewhere -- and French turns me into Gomez Addams -- though only when
spoken/sung by a female), so that's the whole earworm.
.
Considering the pleasant thoughts it accompanies, not a BAD earworm.
.

2. Fall of 1966 - Palos Verdes High School, California. On a Monday
Edited on Mon May-10-10 10:57 AM by LibDemAlways
morning the students return to find a really large, colorful banana with an electrical cord sticking out of it painted over the Cafeteria entrance. Clearly Donovan's storied "Electrical banana" from "Mellow Yellow." Big hit with the students, not so much with the administration. It was painted over by noon.

Too bad that was in the days before cell phone cameras. I'm sure no pics were taken and it's lost to history. But it sure was awesome while it lasted.

Another Donovan memory - Hearing him sing "Hey Jude" live in concert the week it came out. I had a little portable tape recorder with me and captured it on tape. I played it over and over until the tape broke. Good times.

11. That electrical banana made a huge impression. It was
recreated on the cover of the program for our 30 year class reunion some years back. No one needed an explanation as to what it was doing there!

7. I actually didn't know that one. Thanks. Donovan was really talented. One of the few the Beatles
respected.

I adore Catch the Wind, Colours Atlantis....

12. Donovan kicks ass. One of the most under-appreciated musicians for that era.

13. My first concert, aged about 7...Miami Beach Convention Center, '68 or '69?
My only memory of it is of him seated in the lotus position on the stage and people tossing flowers at him.

My second concert not long after was Woodstock. :hippie:

14. I'm a fan.
Thanks for the inspiration to peruse the internet for Donovan music, etc.!
His old boxed set I still have, "Gift from a Flower to a Garden"- has great songs "for Little Ones", too. I'm going to remind my friend so she can look them up to play for her baby grandson.

Here's a good 9 1/2 minute interview from 2008~
