2. Bummer - most of those are out west.
Maybe I could at least make it over to 'bama some day, to see Russell Cave. Especially if there are any pre-historic artificats involved.

7. What's this "drive"?
I've hiked to the top of Mt. Capulin -- but anything resembling a road is for emergencies only.

9. It's an easy climb, and you get a long view of ... well, the same stuff you saw down below.
It's kind of fascinating to realize there are volcanoes in NM, though ... and you never hear them mentioned.

10. Not a National Monument, but...
.
...thought it was fascinating enough to make it one of my stops
on an "Arizona Periphery Tour" I mapped out for myself several
years ago.

Twelve 18-ft tall statues (including the base) put up across
the country from Maryland to California.
.
There's a park bench across the street with a good vantage
point and a bench on its side of the street a little to the
side -- although it's right beside a BUSY long McDonald's
entrance driveway.

Sat for hours and looked and wondered (probably for the first
time in my life) about what life could have been like for
pioneer women.

Time well spent.

That's a baby in one arm and the barrel of a rifle in her

Very nice.

12. I'd like to go into it...

...while in a train -- but only if the Eiffel Tower is in sight.
