Awww my sweet shy feral kitty Saffron is now a little Momma!
She was at my door this morning very persistantly meowing. I opened up the door and she ran on the front porch meowing, I could tell she was in labor and scared. I set up a box with blankets for her and over the course of the next few hours she gave birth to 4 cute little ginger kitties. I was there petting her and reassuring her the most of the time...it's so cool she trusted me (she usually doesn't even let me touch her!) Anyway now that she's in "mommy mode" I hopefully will be able to tame her somewhat. She's such a good mother and takes good care of the little darlings. And yes! I can pet her now and her babies..I love it!

1. The kitten in the middle with the stripes looks like a chipmunk!
It's surprising what cats will do in times of stress. Our family cat came home one time in the middle of the night, badly injured, but managed to climb up onto the roof and meow at my parents bedroom window. Smart cat.

Have fun!

2. My missing cat also returned home in the middle of the nigt.
I had given up looking and was pretty sad about it. One night there he was on my pillow - he'd ripped the screen into the porch area and come in through the kitty door. Guess he figured it was time to end the adventure - or he was hungry. I'm guess hunger drove him home.

6. They're little cuties, 3 boys and girl I think
The light colored one is the girl :) The three boys have really really cool stripes, they look like a cross between a mouse and a tiger right now... I don't know if I'll keep any of them but I've already have two people commit to taking one once they're weaned :) Hopefully Saffie will be tamed enough that I can take her to get fixed. Since I live in town, stray cats making more stray cats tends to be a problem. But I'm enjoying these little sweeties while I have them

9. D'aaawwwwwwwwwww
Female orange kitties are relatively uncommon. Nowhere near as rare as male calicos or torties, but still that color is a sex-linked trait. Only about 1 in 3 or 4 ginger cats is female.

SO CUTE, all of them. I love the little beige one and the little stripey one. Bless you for taking care of this little family.

to come and have her babies at your house - that is wonderful.

Take good care of Momma Kitteh and her offspring, dear cherish! I can tell you're thrilled to have them with you!

18. Squeee! Kitties!!
Saffron looks like she's going to be a good mommy, and those kitteis look precious.

Our feral Momma Cat is now a very contented house cat after we finally brought her in last fall. She has a sister, and four other kitty children from two different litters to keep her company.

She almost oozes contentment.

19. They seem to be thriving, Saffie is doing a great job
She's still inside which must be weird for her since she's always been outdoors. She's a very contented mommy but she is also very protective of her babies, wraps herself around them, grooms them, just purrs and kneads while they are nursing, it's so cute. My daughter named the beige one "Sandy"...one of the gingers is "Charlie" but I don't know which, I can't tell them apart much yet. They have stripes on their backs and swirls on their sides, very usual (And I know which of the local feral toms is the dad because there's an elusive cat that we see from time to time with these very markings!) and yes I've already spoken to a vet who does spaying for feral cats and he says to bring her in when the kitties are weaned and they'll do it for a discount (gotta love discounts!)

20. What a good mommakitty!

I had a stray momma bring me her kittens after they were born. I kept momma and her three girls.

It is an honor to be chosen as you were -- she may be shy, but she trusts/ed you.

Darling kittens! One of the girls our Novi (aka mommakitty) brought us is also an orange female with racing stripes, her nickname is Chipmunk. :)

And interestingly, two of the three kittens were orange tabbies (one short, one long haired); both were girls. Orange tabbies are more often than not male, but you never know!

24. There are a lot of ginger tabbies running around the neighborhood
this little beauty was such a shy thing when she first came around. I tried to coax her in the house but she never wanted anything to do with it. She's a very bright orange, I was hoping to get a calico out of her (cuz I just LOVE em!) I think her babies are all boys the light colored "might" be a girl (not sure). I took in three female orange tabby kittens that were left in front of my door about three years ago. I managed to adopt them all out but I was SO tempted to keep this beautiful long haired girl
