Nobody in the family is impressed that I lost 10 lbs. in six weeks
So this is a shameless bid for a patented Lounge "W00t"--I admit it.

It has been really difficult. I am hypothyroid and have metabolic syndrome (plus I'm over 40), which makes it nearly impossible to drop weight, even with exercise. I have been on a hardcore low-carb metabolic-syndrome diet--it's the only thing that works to move the lard. (Please, no lectures about Atkins-type diets; my doctor prescribed this specific diet because of my health issues, and it's worked for me before.)

I realize that being 10 lbs. lighter doesn't really show (I have more to lose--20 lbs....ideally 30, but I won't get crazy), but I thought I'd at least have some support, if not enthusiastic compliments.

Ah well. I can tell the difference anyway. So...can I get a "W00t"?

BTW, next season, look for them to claim responsibility/apologize for causing that volcano to erupt.

Yeah, Mr. May already admitted in his Telegraph column that he caused the eruption.

"The route to the airfield passes all the turn-offs for Heathrow airport, so is always very busy. But thanks to that volcano I set off in Iceland a few weeks ago there was absolutely no airport traffic, so I enjoyed living in one of those 1930s photographs of the Autobahn - a perfect arrow-straight road populated by a single distant descendant of the Beetle."

You lost it at exactly the right speed, too. Take off more than 10 pounds in about 6 weeks and I'm pretty sure you're more likely to yoyo back.
All the best! Hooray. WOOOOOOT.

It's taken me almost 6 months to drop 20 (I'm at 16# off so far and want 4# more off by June...) so you're doing GREAT!
Keep up the good work! :woohoo:

25. I've taken a break from my diet this past month. I'm taking atlantic sea kelp pills which up my
metabolism so I haven't gained any weight back. I still at between 20 pounds lost and 25. My clothes no longer fit. I'm really happy but I have another 30 pounds to go. Yup. Atkins definitely works for me. Do you take a multivitamin?

26. Great!!
Congrats! :applause:

Atlantic sea kelp, eh...? My metabolism is for shit, thanks to my hypothyroidism, so I might have to look into that--!

I do indeed take a multi, as well as a high dose of D (I'm severely deficient), and another supplement my doctor prescribed--Insinase?--that boosts my insulin function plus works like a boatload of fiber.

33. I gotta use the "B" word here ...
losing weight is a Bitch.

And I got no excuse, no thyroid or metabolic issues, other than also being over 40 (more than 20 years over ;) )

I watch what I eat, within limits of reasonable moderation, heh-heh, and I'm trying to run more and do more yoga and stuff. I've lost some, but not as quickly as you.

So, W00t to you, mg, most impressive. I hope you continue toward your target.

:hi:

35. Are you impressed by your weight loss?
I ask because your opinion (and secondarily, your physician's opinion)are the only ones that matter. If you're proud of your accomplishment, W00t yourself.

36. Fair point
I am pleased; it's a start. So...w00t! ;)

It was just a mildly unpleasant surprise yesterday to tell first my mom, and then my husband, about it and have them both kind of blink and say "Oh...well, good," as if they weren't exactly sure I was telling the truth.

So of COURSE I decided to come to teh Lounge for validation!
