Stepping into it NOW, but just (finally) saw The Blind Side AND
could only think TWO things:

1) Sandra looked totally like Kathy Lee GIFFORD throughout the entire movie.

2) If Kathy Lee GIFFORD had actually PLAYED the role, she would have definitely reached a career OLYMPUS.

After that, I'm sorry, but this movie and the OOOMPH is no Norma Rae.

What we had was a football/cheerleader conflict. The big moment was the lady's reacting to the word "bitch" and doing a Sister Solja reaction. So, it's all right to bash Blacks if you are being benefactor to OTHER Blacks. (Substitute whatever group for "Blacks".)

Where's the popcorn.

1. I am happy to say I just watched Inglorious Basterds
and Kathy Lee was nowhere to be seen. Thanks for the heads up on Blind Side. I will avoid it.

5. Really? That bad?
OK, I'll skip it. Was not really excited about it in the first place, but I won't make the effort.

Why does the Academy give out Oscars for middling performances like that? The only movie I saw with an Oscar nominated actress was Julie & Julia, but I'd think Helen Mirren, Carey Mulligan or Gabourney Sidibe might have been more deserving. Can't say, though, as I haven't seen any of the movies they were in.

I really like Sandra Bullock, but it seems like this wasn't the best performance out there (reminds me of the Julia Roberts win ...)

I'm not saying anything not already obvious, but the Academy is full of cowards.

6. I'm not saying it was bad. When the people/characters were defined as whatever

I just didn't relate. But it was all well done. I'm not a movie buff, so if anything keeps my attention, there's a step up.

8. They Grade on the Curve
So, if Sandra Bullock actually turns in a believable performance she gets bonus points because of her limited amount of talent.

Gabourney Sidibe's was the only performance I saw.

9. It was OK. Read the book. Michael Lewis - great author
The book focuses a lot on the game itself, and uses Michael Oehr's story to illustrate how the game itself has changed over the years, and why Oehr is such a significant player.

10. Well, this was a movie comment, about what I saw, not a criticism of the thematic content
There was noise on the plane, I missed some dialog, etc.-blah. Today somebody asked me, when I got into the motives of the characters, more along the lines of thematic content, somebody asked me whether I had missed that the fellow did not know how to play football or didn't like it at the beginning, such that the woman and her family and the tutor could not have had the ulterior motive of gaining a great player in their befriending of him.

I said that the real footage of the team position guy who hit (THEISMAN?) from "the blind side" set up the physical dimensions required for playing that position, that first the human being recruited needed to meet the physical criteria and could be taught the game later. It's like in "Charlie WILSON's War" (it was a long flight) where he replies to the question about all of his staff being gorgeous bimbos, "You can teach them how to type. You can't teach them to grow boobies."

Anyway, my comments regarded the movie, not the truths in the book.

11. Sorry...I wasn't commenting on your take on the movie so much as just adding on...
some comments about the book.

Not intended as a critique.
