$350 for Avis for a 5 day compact (Chevy Cobalt) rental in New York.
You want to know the worst part?
That was the super bargain. Everyone else was at least $200 more.

My stepfather manages a Rental car business thats a small independent business of renting used cars and his prices are waaaay more reasonable. I also think if you book a car rental with a vacation package its much cheaper. I believe that my subcompact car I got for my trip to Phoenix totalled for 4+ days $179. I spent a little extra for gas and not having to fill up the gas as well.

My friend came over to California and rented a car, but I told her I could drive her around for the last half of her visit.
The early return fee was 400!!!!
We parked it at the airport for a few days instead. :P
