fallout from Mt. St. Helens was raining on us.

1. and you have lots of gays , lesbians, and ACLU types up that way don't you...uh huh, thought so

God ( , you know, the old white guy with the beard and crown) was and no doubt still is, VERY angry.

2. and 6 months later we got Reagan. What a horrible year

3. They piled ash from the blowout in the woods off our cul-de-sac.

I didn't live in Portland then, still lived in California and about all I knew about the Northwest was that's where our Harry & David Xmas baskets came from. I do sometimes wonder if I poked around in the woods if the ash would still be ash-like. It's on a neighbor's property, though, so I've never checked.

4. Many years later you could still see ash along the roadways

I still have some in a bottle.

You wouldn't know it by looking at them, but those odd mounds off of I-5 by the bridge over the Cowlitz are ash.
