"High Fidelity" Just about everything after and including "america's sweethearts" is crap.
"Identity" wasn't horrible, but it wasn't one of his greatests.

His best, IMO...
but I always LIKE him.
Except in "must love dogs".
He stank up the screen in that one.

19. Maybe Jack Black's last great film, too. Unless you count Kung Fu Panda. |

. ...as an EXCEPTIONAL film for him. Gotta admit I've seen NONE of the others. . . . Jack Black has been a HUGE disappointment for me after first seeing his genius "potential" in that movie. .

20. I'm going with The Ice Harvest. |
|
Don't know why it didn't work for others, but I liked it. Dark, strange, and almost no redeeming characters whatsoever.
"He actually threatened to shoot Gladys if I didn't tell him where the money was. But I think he was counting on a level of commitment and affection between her and me that just simply wasn't there."

25. I haven't seen any of those. |
|
I remember The Mexican and Matchstick Men from the previews, but they didn't look much like The Ice Harvest. It was a cross between modern film noir and some of the Coen Brothers' darker works--which come to think of it are pretty much modern film noir anyway. I guess I'd compare it to "The Man Who Wasn't There," loosely. I'm not saying it was too original to compare to anything--it wasn't--I'm just lousy at comparisons. :)

33. Trick question. "Last Great Film" assumes he had a first 'Great Film'. He didn't. |
|
Not yet, anyway.
I think he's gonna have one someday.
