Me and two other English teachers who follow the show are getting together for Taco Night and 4.5 hours of LOST.

1. LOST Party

My neighbor is hosting a LOST party. We are making Hurly's Mr. Cluck's chicken wings and bringing Dharma beer. We printed out labels from the internet on labels and stuck them on beer cans. I'm wearing a kilt and going as Desmond (see you in another life, brutha) and my darling wife is going as Penny, wearing a running suit with a label on it that says Penny Widmore Hume, with the word Widmore crossed out and she is taking a copy of Our Mutual Friend with us.

2. Awesome

I did get some labels for Chips, Beer, and Vodka. One of the people coming wanted to change it to Coq au Vin night after the last episode but a) taco night is a Kate reference and therefore wins over all and b) yeah, like I'm making Coq au Vin (not to mention I'm a vegetarian).

I will be wearing my "I <3 my Shitzu" shirt I got from Cafe Press.

I tried to read Our Mutual Friend after the reference (have honestly read about a dozen books that have been given significant references on the show) but DAMN it was horrid (OK, I don't like Dickens).

I'm happy that they're ending it before it gets stale though. It's currently the best drama on tv EVER, and I'm glad that it will remain as such, rather than grow stale and dissapointing (i.e the simpsons).

My husband has only seen half of the first season. I was like "Yeah, they travel through time and one guy is immortal and he's really cool but there's these Others and a bad guy named Ben who has a change of heart and there's a total bad guy called the Man in Black but he does this and that and blah blah blah..."

And my husband was like "Sooo...do they ever get off the island?"

LMAOOOO

Plus he has to work anyway, and our daughter is only a toddler, so she won't give a shit and she'll be in bed anyway.

That's why I invited people over.

I DVR most everything so I can avoid the commercials. I am starting the party at 7 Central Time partially because my son has a soccer game until 6:30 and partially so we can just skip the commercials of the 2 hour preshow and catch up as the night goes along.

11. Hiding out...and staying off the internets

I won't be able to watch the finale until Monday night, or maybe as late as Tuesday night. :banghead:

Staying off the intertubes to avoid spoilers of course, but also to avoid my blood pressure spiking because of all the people who will HAAAAAATE the finale no matter what happens. :grr: (I think they've already decided they hate it, actually.)
