6. It's been 9 years!
How long would you expect people to avoid the date?

8. just seems weird.
Every person I know here who has heard about (knows the couple) has reacted with incredulity. Every single one. Basically they've all said, "WTF would want to get married on that date?"

I guess I agree. Say "9/11" and every one knows what "day" it is. They haven't just heard about it - they lived through it. (I'm talking adults.) So maybe "we're" all weird that we think it's "weird".

I don't think I'd get married on Dec 7th, for that matter, either. But then again - I will never ever EVER get married again so it's moot point. :)

4. My buddy and his wife did
I have no issue with it. It's their wedding. Their choice on the date.

5. Something horrible has happened on every day of the year.
Weddings book up months in advance and that was probably the best date they could get.

So what difference does it make?

I don't think decades worth of national mortification is psychologically healthy. We don't need to forget, but we do need to move on.

Unless her parents CHOSE that date. Then that would be a little weird, too.
