You know what pisses me off about this whole Law and Order business? |
|
Is that they didn't let it come back for one season to wrap it up like a typical long-running show. Tonight's episode will be its last. Now I'll admit that I haven't watched Law and Order much since Jerry Orbach died, but this series, I think anyway, deserves a fancy ending.
Instead, we're going to get a finale that isn't much different from any other Law and Order episode because they were only cancelled last week.
It just seems that show deserved at least a final season to officially end. Not an abrupt send off like what we're going to receive.
Oh well.

5. Are there many ongoing storylines in Law and Order? |
|
I'll admit, I haven't seen an episode since the 90's but I remember it as a very episodic show without a lot of independent character arcs.
A show in that format wouldn't seem to require much of a wrap up. In fact, it might seem a bit awkward.
Let it go out as it lived with a steady, formulaic, procedural episode that comforts its viewers by its very familiarity.

6. Even the Golden Girls, which had minimal story arcs, had an ending. |
|
That's what I mean. There are rarely any story arcs in Law and Order (though Jack McCoy is now the DA and Anita Van Buren was diagnosed with cancer recently (it was said she wouldn't be back next season, so I'm assuming they were writing her out).
Little stuff like that.

8. But that was more of a character driven show |
|
Law and Order has never really struck me as being particularly character driven.
I'm not saying it doesn't deserve some kind of send off, but it's a little different with a show like L&O where the characters are basically supposed to end the day unchanged from how they began it.
I think a TV movie would be a decent option. Longer form.
