2. Beautiful...
I love horses. My grandparents had horses when I was little, they're magnificent animals.

I always say, if I ever have the money, I'd love to own horses. Preferably rescues.

5. She could be considered a rescue
She's an off-the-track Thoroughbred. Had one of the girls at the track not taken her to find her a good home (me), she may well have ended up on a kill truck.

Thanks - she is beautiful and she's the light of my life.

4. The top 3 were taken yesterday
And it looked exactly like that at the barn in Saratoga today when I went. It was pouring buckets at my house in Los Gatos though.

Damn micro-climates!

7. what a beautiful girl!

I learned to ride in California; my trainer would as frequently as possible rescue thoroughbreds from local tracks and train them to the trail. Haven't ridden in over 20 years; I really miss it.

Have you seen Cowgirl magazine? Good friends of one of my sister's founded it; they're only on their fourth issue. Always like to see horse-centric magazines :)

9. That's one I haven't seen
I mostly ride English though I originally learned Western (about 300 years ago). I have subscriptions to Equus, Horse Illustrated and Horse and Rider and I regularly read Dressage Today and Trail Rider. Love horse magazines but I can't throw any away because they have so much good info in them.

Good on your former trainer for rescuing TB's. They are a lot of work to rehab but so worth it!

10. I rode Enlglish as well...
DAMN I miss it! I remember one horse my trainer nicknamed Magnum; he was HUGE and just a beautiful creature who really did like to run. After he was a good boy in the ring (or even after he was ornery & bucked me off multiple times in a row), we'd take him to the dry river bed and let him run -- really was an incredible feeling riding him when he opened up and went at full speed. Hard to believe he never won a race; makes me wonder how it would have felt to be on Secretariat when he really opened up and ran like the wind.

Cowgirl strikes me as more of a lifestyle magazine, featuring western fashions as well. But interesting horse history, etc...

8. Beautiful horse!
I really miss riding but I don't have a big enough place to keep a horse anymore.

This is my angry, man-eating pit bulldog Birdie with my daughter :D
