1. My dear Arctic Dave!
Ah, these are very nice!

And what a beautiful location you have...

You'd never know there was oil pollution here...or was that in a different part?

Thank you for sharing these...

:hi:

2. This is the western part of PWS
This is the first time I put my own pics on DU.

I have more but I wasn't sure how they would turn out.

3. You might want to size them down a bit...
Are you using Photobucket?

These are very pretty!

I'm still going through the learning stage with Photobucket. Thanks for the critique. :hi:

5. It took me a long time to get anywhere with it!
But I'm a slow learner!

You can always preview your pics before you hit post...then you'll know exactly how big they'll be.

10. It was a blast.
My buddy makes home made pizza on his camp stove. You have to knead your own dough and everything. I told him he should get a TV program on the Food network, "Back Country Gourmet". What do you think?

12. The great thing is that, no matter how many calories you cook up,
you would most likely burn them off the next day.

P.S.
We had homemade cinnamon rolls for desert. Yum!

17. Oh God. Homemade cinnamon rolls.
That's the clincher on what must have been a beautiful time.
What a gorgeous place. Thank you for sharing.
And, just to reinforce California Peggy's comment...you are not ugly. Beard or not.

16. Kayaking! It's like being a duck
Quiet, right IN the water. I used to canoe, and was an instant convert the first time I tried a kayak.

Your pictures are great!

18. Thank you. One of the best things about it is sitting still and listening to nature.

20. Best kayak moment: sitting in the Pine Barrens
in a creek that ran through swampland, not moving, just waiting for the canoe people in the group to catch up.

All of a sudden I heard "whomp, whomp, whomp" - it sounded like a helicopter was taking off. I turned around, and behind me in some rushes was a giant bird flying away, which I'm pretty sure was a bald eagle (there are bald eagles in that area). Not something I would have seen hiking through that area on foot...

Second best was coming on alligators sunning themselves on the Hillsborough "River" (more of a creek), outside Tampa. The canoe noises tend to scare off the wildlife, but a kayak can be so quiet....

22. OK I live here and this is sooo making me jealous..

Isn't the lake 21 or so miles long? I only remember standing at one end and being rendered speechless by the color of the water, like the first time I toured the Kenai Fjords. I had never seen aqua water here before. Thanks for the pictures; making me look forward to my three day weekend!!!
