Say whatever about Axl Rose, but Slash kills it in this song.

1. Yup, and they didn't even think that song was going to be a hit.
Turned out to be a classic. It's a good driving song, too. Have you heard Slash's new solo album? I've heard a couple of tunes off of it and they sound pretty good.

3. When this song came out, I was on a six month cruise with the Navy.
We got back, and this song was everywhere!! I remember thinking, "Who in the hell are these guys, and what took them so long to get here?!"

I ended up working at the studio where Guns recorded "Appetite for Destruction", and got to meet Slash when he was working on a solo album, there. I have to say, he is one of the nicest guys I have ever met. I actually got to meet all of the Guns n' Roses guys, and both Slash and Duff were cool.

We later witnessed the breakup of the band, but that is another story...

7. Axl based this song on his then girlfriend turned wife Erin Everly, daughter of Don Everly
Edited on Fri May-28-10 06:52 PM by carlyhippy
She is in the video. Her and Axl were married for about 1 year, together for 4 tumultous years.

8. I first heard this song
driving between Cheyenne WY and Fort Collins Co, a drive I made frequently and miss now, living near DC. (Moving back to Cheyenne later this year though :) ). Everytime I hear this song, though, it "takes me away to that special place."
